Michelle Obama celebrates 49 years of fabulousness today.  As a champion for military families and healthier living, she stands as a model citizen, wife, mom and a shining example of dedication of American excellence. 

And while the White House has been mum about how The First Lady will celebrate tonight, we do know that in true "Obama" form, she'll spend her weekend giving back to the country as part of the National Day of Service.

Us Weeklyposted Kandi's first official engagement picture.  Well isn't the couple looking cute...

Todd picked out this ring based on a ring Kandi actually spotted on a "Housewives" trip.  So he had the ring shipped in from Las Vegas and it's designed by Gregg Ruth.

So Todd dished that to the magazine that he carried the bauble around for three to four months, and then popped the question during a New Year's Eve celebration shortly after 1AM.

Not mad at it.  Some folks look at Todd as an opportunist due to the very short nature of their relationship and him moving in to Kandi's house in a matter of months.  But we'll just say....we'll see.

Last night's "American Idol" premiere was everything we thought it would be.  Catfights between Mariah Carey & Nicki Minaj and classy shade thrown by MiMi.   Check out some tidbits inside in case you missed it...

As the "Idol" judges made their way around the country for auditions during the first night of the premiere, Nicki & Mariah clashed to the high heavens.  And you gotta love it.

When Nicki rocked her fluffy drum major's hat and had it sitting on the judges' desk, Mariah remarked:

‘I wanted to bring my dog.  We can have accessories? I didn't know that was allowed. But that's the last thing I'm going to say.’

Teeheeeeee.  And it didn't end there.

One of the contestants began by telling Mariah her Christmas song "All I Want For Christmas" is the best Holiday song ever.  Nicki unnecessarily chanted through her gritted teeth:

"She’s a b*tch, she’s a b*tch, she’s a b*tch."

Mariah's response: "If she called me something that begins with a “B” and ends in an “-itch”, I rebuke it."

Ha!  Not REBUKE though. 

And another funny scene went down int he hair and makeup room.  Mariah said, "I want to lose three pounds."  And the convo went downhill from there:

‘I know how you can,’ said Minaj.

‘It’s a quote from Mean Girls. If you knew Mean Girls you would know,’ said Carey. ‘I do know Mean Girls,’ said Minaj.

‘OK, who says “I want to lose three pounds.” Which character?’ challenged Carey.

‘Not Lindsay. The other one, with the blonde hair,’ said Minaj.

‘What’s her name?’ asked Carey. ‘You know something?’ said Minaj. ‘Mariah?’

‘I just want to know,’ said Carey. ‘Broken promises, right?’

Sigh.

Beyonce made headlines with hersuper-sexy "GQ" cover earlier this month and now the magazine has released a sizzling video capturing the video shoot. 

She reveals that she and hubby Jay-Z often make love to certain music (maybe her own "1+1" track or a Rick James reference) saying, 

'If I'm scared, be scared, allow it, release it, move on. I think I need to go listen to 'Make Love to Me' and make love to my husband."

She also mused about the power and influence her music has saying,

'When I was writing the Destiny's Child songs, it was a big thing to be that young and taking control. And the label at the time didn't know that we were going to be that successful, so they gave us all control. And I got used to it. It is my goal in life to be that example.

'I now know that, yes, I am powerful. I'm more powerful than my mind can even digest and understand.'

Carmelo Anthony and LaLa were in the Mayfair area of London last night were they dined out at Scotts Restaurant.

La wore a pink fur jacket over a grey t-shirt and rocked a pair of thigh-high Louboutins over a pair of black leggings.

The couple seem to be weathering the storm just fine and moving past all the rumors of a split.  And Lala will be cheering for Melo as they play at the 02 Arena tonight against the Pistons.

And Lala is wearing her ring again! Folks were up in arms when she was spotted ringless for NYE...but things have changed!

Amber Rose called Wiz Khalifa "my husband" during a recent interview which has made folks believe they already got married! Or...is it just her pet name for her boo? See the interview inside and decide....

Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose made it no secret that they planned to get legally married before Amber gives birth (and will have a big actual wedding AFTER the baby).  And since it looks like she's due pretty soon, it makes sense that they could have eloped. 

During a recent street interview with TMZ, she referred to Wiz as "my husband", so it's possible they've already gotten hitched.  On the other hand, Amber's been calling Wiz her "husband" since damn near the day they met.  So it could just be her pet term...of sorts.

No "official" announcement has come out yet.  But who knows.

We reached out to the show's Executive Producer and Creator, Mona Scott Young.  And she tells TheYBF.com that there is no truth to the rumor.  The two are still a part of the cast.  So there you have it.

Texas-turned-Brooklyn gal Solange Knowles is over in the UK promoting her TRUE EP while Georgia peach Keri Hilson hosted a Gillette event in Santa Monica.  See the ladies inside.....

Solange Knowles was seen heading into London hotspot XOYO where she promoted her True ep.  And looking like the savvy fahsionista that she is.

Solange, who'll soon trek across North America for a tour, recently tweeted about people who make rash criticisms of hipsters and their music without really know what they are talking about.

"Some of these music blogs could actually benefit from hiring people who REALLY understand the culture of hip hop to write about hip hop. Like you really should know about deep Brandy album cuts before you are giving a "grade" or a "score" to any R&B artist."

Keri Hilson and Gillette asked a few Los Angeles couples to 'Kiss and Tell' in a live national experiment yesterday.

Keri, who set out to prove whether ladies prefer a clean shaven kiss to a rough stubbled one, plans to reveal the results on Valentine's Day.

And Miss Keri Baby came fully prepared to shave off the stubble of a few fans so they could pucker up for their kisses. 

The singer/songwriter, who's working on a new album which will feature another Kanye West collaboration, must have gotten "the scoop" during a few of the kiss and tells as she tweeted a word of encouragement to men who are able to resist cheating on their girlfriends. 

"I'm gonna end on this...I applaud any man who's capable of resisting all this temptation. I'm sure it's not an easy thing to do these days!"

Shawty-Lo is speaking out about Oxygen dropping "All My Babies' Mamas" saying people never gave it a chance. Watch the interview inside and find out what Nas blamed his hospital visit on.

Shawty-Lo is speaking up about Oxygen stopping development on "All My Babies' Mamas"  and he wants people to know it wasn't as bad as it sounded. 

While appearing on Hot 107.9 in Atlanta, he spoke up about the critics saying, "They makin' their assumptions off a 13-minute trailer and this like the biggest news around the world right now and it's unbelievable."

He continued, "The show wasn't about, we finna be fightin'....My show is not about no negative; it's a positive. But if they wanna see the show, sign a petition."

For what it's worth, there's a new petition to get the show "green lighted" again (also on Change.org) and Shawty-Lo defended his life and his family saying,

"It's a lot of fathers don't take care of one; I gotta deal with 11. I gotta deal with nine girls and two boys.

Comin' up, we didn't have Thanksgiving, we didn't have Christmas, but if I had my father there, if I even had my mother there, I probably wouldn't have been that person I was in the streets."

In other music news...

We told you earlier about Nas cancelling on "Live With Kelly & Michael" due to vertigo, and now he's opening up about the diagnosis.  He told ABC News that his extreme dizziness was due to a hectic work schedule. 

"I'm good now.  When you don't really realize you're working so much -- whew! -- things happen."  He added,  "I knew exactly what it was when I started to feel it."

Now, Nas is walking a straight line again so Life Is Good.  He also tweeted about becoming the new face of Hennessy's Wild Rabbit campaign as he performed a few concerts in NYC for the brand this week.

"The concept is about being vulnerable and being sexy. Pretty much about being in a relationship that you are trying to figure out. I'm wearing a very simple, very expensive sweatshirt. I’m chilling at the house, then me and my husband get in an argument. It's very narrative. We simply play out the lyrics of the song."

A very pregnant Amber Rose, who is due to give birth in 5 weeks, was spotted hand in hand with fiance (and possible husband already?) Wiz Khalifa as they headed to their car after shopping at Bel Bambini in Beverly Hills.  And Amber looks like she's about to drop a load any second now.  At least she manages to still look pretty good even if that belly looks painful as all hell.

It's all about their baby boy these days.  So Bel Bambini is perfect for a spoiled prince on the way:

"The Kill" designer Karrueche Tran was seen heading into Vanquish in Atlanta last night where she hosted a new launch party for her Chris Brown-assisted label "The Kill."

Ms. Tran smoked hookah with friends while rocking an animal-print bra top and a tie-dyed wrap dress.

Akon was among the celebs who celebrated the launch with Karrueche.

Sarah Vivan, one of Lil' Wayne's baby mamas, also attended the party. 

Model/Vixen Sheneka Adams co-hosted the party along with Jacob York.

Karrueche has said that Yoko Ono is one of her fashion muses.  Obvi.  We just can't decide how we feel about this dress....

Now that his 10-year deal with Atlantic Records has expired, Trouble Man rapper and Atlanta native T.I. is shopping for a new record deal...and he comes with a $75M price tag.

So what would $75 million get you?  It comes with 3 albums; 10-20 percent of publishing; touring, merchandise, film and TV rights; Corporate endorsement deals; and exclusive signing of all Grand Hustle artists. 

As an artist who's proven himself in the game for a number of years (and one of the only rappers who could still sell records while locked up) Tip is pretty confident that someone will match his price or come pretty close as he's already taken meetings with Dr. Dre (on behalf of Interscope) and Jay-Z (for Roc Nation).  Also Sony's put a $50 million dollar deal on the table and Universal is interested too. 

It must be nice to have those kind of options.

Singer Alicia Keys appeared alongside director George Tillman Jr. and actress Jennifer Hudson at the "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete" premiere during the 2013 Sundance Film Festival at Library Center Theater in Park City, Utah yesterday.

The ladies kept it fab in the snowy city as they premiered Alicia's new movie.

The film (produced by Alicia Keys)tells the story of two inner-city kids who are forced to fend for themselves over the summer after their mothers are taken away by authorities.

In the film, Jennifer Hudson breaks from her "good girl" image and stars as a character with a heroin addiction.

Jen spoke about her role saying, "I've never had a drink before, I've never been drunk, unsober, in my entire life… I would never get a tattoo! It could not have been the furthest thing from myself."

The film also stars "Smash" star Jordin Sparks.

And Alicia, who'll be singing The National Anthem at Super Bowl XLVII,  also wrote the film's movie score.  Of course.

The controversial "Django Unchained" action figures have been pulled from the market after an uproar from several well-organized groups.  More details inside....

Our cousins have been on a roll lately when it comes to ridding the market of ideas and concepts deemed hurtful towards the African American race.  First, our folks got together on Change.Org and put the squash on Shawty-Lo, and now the same has happened to the Django Unchained dolls.

Some of the loudest voices were Al Sharpton’s National Action Network and Project Islamic Hope who caused the Weinstein Company to rethink the dolls after an article from the Daily Beast shined a light on the issues surrounding it.

After the outrage, reports state the Weinstein Company's asked the toy company to stop production and it's reported that only 1,000 dolls were made before shutting down production.

But on the flip side of that coin....now those 1,000 dolls will become collector's items.

Just imagine Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington and Samuel Jackson"dolls" on the auction blocks about ten years from now....oh the irony.
 

Two of America's top music acts are heading across the pond to bless the Brits.  Find out what Beyonce and Rihanna will be up to in the UK inside...

Although she hasn't made an appearance in the UK in two years, Beyonce has been named as one of the performers for this year's BRIT Awards.  Airing February 20, on FUSE, Bey will join other performers like One Direction and Muse for the ceremony that honors some of Europe's top acts. 

The performance will just be one of many high profile Beyonce appearances which will also include her highly anticipated performance and alleged reunion with Destiny's Child at Super Bowl 2013.

And on the runways of London...

On February 16, Rihanna has announced that she will present the 50-piece collection that she designed for River Island at London Fashion Week.

Rihanna spoke about the reveal saying,

'Launching at London Fashion Week is a dream come true for me.  I have wanted to design my own collection for a long time and to present my collection for River Island alongside all of the other great design talent at LFW is a real privilege. 'I can't wait to see the reaction from my fans and the fashion press."

The presentation will be followed by a huge afterparty.

The former mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, is caught up in a swampy mess down in New Orleans with the feds coming down on him with 21 federal corruption charges.  Find out more inside....

Something in the gumbo ain't right down in the N.O. as former mayor Ray Nagin has been hit with 21 federal corruption charges.

Though Ray first rose to national prominence after he was applauded for the way he handled Hurricane Katrina during those FIRST few days, some things have changed and folks may never look at him the same. 

The charges stem from a City Hall corruption investigation where counts include wire fraud, bribery, money laundering, filing false tax returns and conspiracy.

So how deep are Ray's hands in the pot? It's not looking very good for Ray as two former city officials and two businessmen (whom he had close dealings with) have already plead guilty. And with the feds involved, expect them all to start spilling the sweet tea on each other.
