Magic Johnson and his investment group have officially closed on a deal to buy the LA Dodgers for $2.15 billion dollars. Get the deets inside.
NBA Hall Of Fame legend and mega entrepreneur, Magic Johnson, is set to make history as the first black owner in MLB history. Magic and his investment group (MLB and NBA executive Stan Kasten, Peter Guber, head of Mandalay Entertainment, and financed by Mark Walter, CEO of Guggenheim Partners) have closed on a deal to buy the Dodgers from owner Frank McCourt for $2.15 billion. And they get to keep the parking lots!
This price is reportedly the most ever paid for a professional sports team. And folks are really happy. Former Rihanna boytoy, Matt Kemp, who plays for the Dodgers, just tweeted,
"Good day 4 the @dodgers! The great @magicjohnson is the new owner!! Let's start a dynasty baby!!''
Loves it!
