The holiday season will be a little less "jolly" for Minnesota Vikings cornerback A.J. Johnson who was released from the team this week. A.J.'s dismissal comes on the heels of a domestic assualt charge brought by the Eden Prairie police department for allegedly strangling his girlfriend.
According to TMZ and Hennepin County records, Jefferson was arrested on Monday at his home in Eden Prairie after his 23-year-old girlfriend reported that around 4:30 a.m., A.J. "grabbed her neck and she could not breath" and then"picked her up by the neck" and threw her off the bed. The dispute was allegedly over her ignoring his text messages.
A.J. was cut by the Vikings on Tuesday and is being held on $40,000 bail. If convicted, he faces up to 3 years in prison.
