There's more shocking cancellation news at BET. Deets inside...
Less than 1 week after its season 2 finale, "The Quad" just got the axe!
BET just confirmed the news today, saying the series about an HBCU struggling to stay out of bankruptcy is officially kaput.
It looks like all the on-screen sex scandals thrown into the mix didn't help, because the show dipped in ratings this season. Each episode had an average of 553,000 viewers, 30% lower than last season. Still, the show had developed a loyal following with a strong social media buzz surrounding it.
Folks are already going off about the cancellation, so we're sure there's going to be plenty of hurt feelings around BET getting rid of another show once folks fall in love with it.
Anika Noni Rose led the popular Rob Hardy-produced series, which also starred Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Sean Blakemore and Jasmine Guy.
Anika posted a Thank You to her fans saying:
Thank you, the fans, for loving #TheQuadBet ! Thku @realrobhardy 4making that first call, & 4the faith u, @followfeliciad& @bet put in me. It's not often u get to b someone who's from where yr from &goes where yv been. I leave this journey w/new experience, & forever friends pic.twitter.com/eE25bTtDXX
