Former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha has moved on from football to getting his feet wet in the acting world. He landed his first role in the new drama Crown Heights, starring opposite Lakeith Stanfield (“Atlanta,” Get Out).
Over the weekend, his Emmy nominated wife Kerry Washington celebrated his big feat by hosting a special screening of Crown Heights followed by a Q&A panel with the cast.
Crown Heights (winner of Sundance’s coveted audience award for drama) tells the true story of Colin Warner (played by Lekeith) who was wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. His childhood friend Carl ‘KC’ King (played by Nnamdi) puts up a fight for years to clear his friend’s name.
After the screening, Kerry took the stage to introduce her husband and got all mushy while talking about him:

Nnamdi took the stage to talk about his career change and how thankful he is to have someone like his wife Kerry in his corner.
"I know so many people who’ve been through situations where they’ve gone from one career to another and have had such a tough time because they didn’t have any support doing it. I just know how important it was for me," he added.
