Get ready for “A Different World” 2.0!
The proposed “black•ish” spin-off starring Yara Shahidi appears to be moving forward and new details about the cast are trickling in.
The “Burning Sands” actor has been cast to play a college freshman who will be a friend to Yara’s character, Zoey Johnson. “Saturday Night Live” alum Chris Parnell and “Veep” star Matt Walsh have also reportedly joined the cast as well and they will play college administrators.
We told you back in January, Kenya Barris’ new spin-off series will follow Zoey as she heads off to college. She’s the eldest Johnson kid who will be graduating high school eager to start her next chapter in life.
Sounds like “A Different World” 2.0 to us! And we're here for it.
The entire “black•ish” cast was front and center at Deadline’s The Emmys Contenders annual event to host lunch with ABC Studios. The event allows the TV Academy and guild voters to get the inside track early to kick off EMMY season before the 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on September 17th are held at the Microsoft Theater in L.A.
Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Marsai Martin, Miles Brown, and creator/producer Kenya Barris (not pictured) were there having loads of fun, showing off their black pride and more.
