That Rihanna reign isn’t letting up anytime soon. She’s set to receive MTV’s top honor at this year’s Video Music Awards. Not only that, the Bajan beauty will be flexing her acting chops in an all-female Oceans 11 reboot. All the deets inside...

Major congrats to Rihanna!

The “Work” singer will be honored with MTV’s top honor as she will be the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s Video Music Awards, set to air live Sunday, Aug. 28 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. She’ll be joining the ranks of Beyonce (who won in 2014) and Kanye West (who copped the award in 2015).

The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award is MTV’s equivalent to a lifetime achievement honor that recognizes accomplishments in music, fashion, film and philanthropy. The prestigious award was created in 1984 then it was renamed in 1991 in honor of the King of Pop. And rightfully so.

Since making a splash in the music industry in 2005 with her debut album Music of the Sun, the Bajan beauty has won two Video of the Year awards at the VMAs for her 2007 hit “Umbrella” and 2012’s “We Found Love.”

Rihanna has won Video of the Year at the VMAs twice, for 2007’s “Umbrella” and 2012’s “We Found Love.” When it comes to video treatments, Rih does come with it.  Lately, with "Needed Me" and "BBHMM," she's brought the unapologetically shockworthy factor. Her official YouTube account has raked in over 9.6 BILLION views.

The “BBHMM” singer is up for four video awards this year, including Best Female Video. She’s also set to hit the stage for a lively performance. Hmm…we wonder if her homie-lover-friend Drake will make a surprise appearance.  Previous recipients have been in the business for 20+ years.

Congrats Rih!

In movie news....

After being cast in A&E’s “Bates Motel,” Rihanna has already nabbed yet another acting gig.

The Dior spokeswoman will star in the upcoming all-female Oceans 11 reboot titled, Oceans 8. She will be joining Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina to round out the cast. It appears they’re doing the “all-female” cast trend like Ghostbusters did recently.

According to Deadline, the film will be produced by Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh and directed by Gary Ross and the film will be produced through Warner Bros.

Are you here for it?
