We’ve got the first look at two highly anticipated bodies of work. The Chi-Raq film and “The Wiz Live!” musical have released their first trailers. Check ‘em inside…
We’ve been following production of Spike Lee’s highly anticipated (and controversial) film Chi-Raq. We told you the film will star a slew of YBF celebs, including Jennfer Hudson, Samuel L. Jackson, Nick Cannon, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, LaLa Anthony and more. And now, we’ve learned “Survivor’s Remorse” star Teyonah Paris will also star in the film.
Along with the first sneak peek we also get a synopsis of the plot. Lee's new flick will be an update on Aristophanes’ anti-war comedy "Lysistrata." The comedy is about the women of Athens who stop having sex with their husbands in an effort to bring the devastating Peloponnesian War to an end. Well, Lee will tell the story with a Chi-town twist.
Deadline reports:
Set in the modern day south Chicago Urban war zone nicknamed Chi-Raq (as in “Iraq”) the story sees a group of women organize against the on-going violence after the murder of a child by a stray bullet, by withholding sexual access to the point that even strippers refuse to work. What follows challenges the nature of sex, race and violence in America and the world
Oh? No sex? Sounds very interesting. Peep the trailer below:
The film is expected to be released December 4th through Amazon.
In another first look....
