YBF folks are booked and busy, honey! Get deets on Erika Alexander and Janelle Monae's new gigs, plus find out who's joining Halle Berry & Lena Waithe's new BOOMERANG sequel inside...

Season 2 of Black Lightning just added some starpower.

Erika Alexander will be joining the cast in a recurring role and she's bringing some telepathic powers to throw in the mix. Shadow & Act serves up deets on her role:

In a recurring role on the DC Comics-based series on The CW, she'll play Perenna, “a therapist with telepathic abilities who is trying to help Jennifer (China Anne McClain) acclimate to her manifesting powers and the emotions that go along with them."

The "Living Single" alum is a huge sci-fi/superhero fan. The actress and her husband Tony Puryearcreated"Concrete Jungle," a sci-fi graphic novel, last year.

“First, I love sci-fi. My writing heroes are giants of sci-fi who happen to be African American like Octavia Butler and Samuel R. Delany,” she said. “The biggest geeks I know are Sam Jackson, Will Smith and Rosario Dawson. Secondly, and more importantly, you wanna tell me about the future? Blacks and other minorities in this country and poor people all over the world live in the future. Our past may be pain, our present, precarious, but the future? The future is free.”

Season 2 of "Black Lightning" premieres October 9th at 9pm EST on The CW.

By the way, the cast of "Living Single" reunited recently, but Erika (along with Queen Latifah) was missing. The other castmates said they would be down for a sequel, but only time will tell.

Another YBF chick getting jobs...

Janelle Monae WOWED us in Hidden Figures and Oscar favorite Moonlight.

Now, she's gearing up for TWO new roles.

The Dirty Computer singer will be joining Cynthia Erivo in the upcoming Focus Features movie, Harriet, a biopic that will chronicle the life of heroic abolitionist Harriet Tubman. No word yet on what role she will play.

Other YBFers who will star in the biopic include Leslie Odom Jr., Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Girls Trip actress Deborah Ayorinde.

Janelle Monae will also lend her voice in "UglyDolls," an animated family adventure based on the toy brand. Variety reports:

In the adorably different town of Uglyville, the free-spirited Moxy and her UglyDolls pals confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be worthy of love.

Come December, Janelle will be featured on the big screen in a dramedy titled, Welcome to Marwen. She's playing a character named GI Julie. Welcome To Marwen debuts in theaters December 21st.

Get those movie coins, sis!

On television...

We told you Halle Berry and Lena Waithe are working on a BOOMERANG sequel as executive producers. And now, the cast is rounding out with some fresh faces.

26 years after BOOMERANG hit theaters, a sequel of the 1992 classic is coming to BET in a 10-episode series. Tequan Richmond ("Everybody Hates Chris") and Tetona Jackson (All Night) have been cast as the lead stars. Leland B. Martin (A Cinderella Christmas) and Instagram star Lala Milan ("Claws") have joined the cast as series regulars.

Deadline reports:

Based on the 1992 American romantic comedy film, Boomerang will follow the lives of Jacqueline Boyer’s son (Richmond) and Marcus and Angela Graham’s daughter (Jackson) as they try to step out of their parents’ shadows and make a legacy of their own.

Richmond’s Bryson is resourceful, tough and charming. Raised by a single mother, he’s self-assured and doesn’t hide his vulnerability. Every bit as driven as Simone, Bryson wants to make his mark on this world.

Jackson’s Simone is privileged, beautiful, cool and driven to a fault. She has an easy confidence that she inherited from her father, but a down-to-earth, chill vibe, which she inherited from her mother. The shadow of both her parents looms large and she is eager to step out of it and make a name for herself.

Martin will play Ari, a digital producer with big dreams. He is handsome, charming, effortlessly confident, and has an edge and swagger that is completely disarming. Ari doesn’t believe in labels. He’s an equal opportunist when it comes to dating.

Milan is Tia, a misguided performance artist with high ambitions. She is a classically trained dancer who wants to topple the patriarchy. She’s charismatic and wildly unique. Tia is an activist at heart, but she doesn’t mind being a little ratchet every now and then.

Waithe ("The Chi") will co-write the pilot with Ben Cory Jones ("Insecure") and Dime Davis ("The Chi") will helm the pilot and will also be on board for future episodes. Jones will also serve as an executive producer and the showrunner.

We like the way this is shaping up. You here for it?

KINGS RECOGNIZE KINGS: LeBron James Proves He Has Colin Kaepernick's Back

Of course, a King recognizes a King.  See LeBron James' public display of support for Colin Kaepernick inside...

LeBron James isn't taking a knee during the national anthem, but he still has former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's back.

Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers player walked into the Staples Center before a preason game making a bold statement. King James rocked a Nike t-shirt with "Kaepernick" written across the upper back.

King James posted pictures of himself in the t-shirt on his Instagram that he captioned, "KAEP Drip @kaepernick7 #MoreThanAnAthlete"

Check it:

Both LeBron and Colin have deals with Nike, however, King James wearing that shirt is bigger than that.

"I wore a Kaepernick shirt tonight, one, because it's Nike and I'm a Nike guy," King James explained. "And then, two, I support Kap. I've always supported Kap and what he stands for and what he believes in."

This isn't the first time King James showed Colin support. While accepting the “Icon 360” award at Harlem's Fashion Row Awards last month, LeBron praised Nike for backing Colin amid all of the controversy during his acceptance speech.

A few years ago (when Colin first launched his protest), LeBron spoke to reporters revealing he supported Colin and his efforts even though he decided he would not be taking a knee.

Love seeing YBF celebs stan and STAND behind one another, especially during times like this.  Write that ish down, Kanye.

EXCLUSIVE: Skai Jackson Says Colorism In Hollywood Is Real & 'Unfair,' But She's Going To Be Her True Self Regardless

 photo skai1.png

Colorism is Hollywood is no secret and YBF actress Skai Jackson is all too familiar. FInd out what she told TheYBF.com about losing out on roles to lighter skinned actresses and more inside...

Colorism.

It's no secret Hollywood suffers from colorism.

While the "Black Girl Magic" movement is a step in the right direction (and slaying everythng in sight), on-screen representation still lacks showing the range of young, black actresses. It always seems like the same girl - looks wise - is used for every "black girl role."

Disney starlet Skai Jackson knows about it all too well. She's a gorgeous, young, black actress making waves in the entertainment business, however, she herself has noticed that sometimes light-skinned actresses are nabbing roles, specifically written for a darker skinned actress.

YBF Correspondent Tiffany Frances caught up with Skai backstage at the Barclays Center for the WE Day UN 2018 event recently where she dished on dealing with colorism in Hollywood.

"There have been so many movie opportunities, movies that I'm seeing coming out that were originally books and they are originally made for dark-skinned girls, but a lighter skinned girl ends up getting the role," Skai told TheYBF.com. "I just think that's so unfair because it's like, there's so many of us that we could use and not just stick with the same old, same old. I just feel like they're being really safe with their choices."

Skai said there's no hate towards lighter actresses who nab these roles because, of course, they're going to take the role they indeed earned. She simply wants filmmakers & creators to look deeper and notice that there are other actresses who don't have light skin and curly hair who could still slay the role. PREACH.

The 16-year-old entertainer also talked about how she plans on transitioning from a "child star" to an adult entertainer, despite how people may react to her growing up.

Eric Bellinger & La'Miya Good have been on our cute couple radar for a minute.  Check out the R&B couple living their best baecay lives in paradise inside.

Singer Eric Bellinger is still trippin' all over his wife (Ella Mai style) of 3 years, actress and singer La'Miya Good, so he took her on a birthday baecay to Montego Bay recently.  He came off tour in New Zealand straight to catering to his woman.  As a good hubby should.  And we definitely ain't mad at that.

We love a drama-free cute AF couple.  #BlackLove

By the way, just because they're drama free doesn't mean they dont go through their ish too.  Eric dropped a new video for his track "By Now" off his new Eazy Call album, and he says it's all about a reality-check moment --  he was always down to turn up when some bad b****es pulled up and it became the price of success.

He revealed some of the song’s lyrics are directly about his own relationship and family, while others reflect what he knows many people are going through.

"Even though I’m out there with the homies / I feel like I’m all on my own bae / I wanna go back to the old days / when it was just you and me only."

He says the visuals are raw to reflect just how much gratitude he has for his wife and their son together, staying down while he's out here grinding.  Sweet.

La'Miya - who s Megan Good's sister - was on the short lived E! series "The Platinum Life" about wives & girlfriends of music stars.

Kanye West Cancels All Social Media Again, Taylor Swift Throws A Political Plot Twist, And Kourtney Kardashian DRAGS Yeezy Designs (And Kim Wearing Them)

There's a lot going on in Kanye West's world. And apparently, we all chose the wrong side of the Taylor vs. Kanye drama.  Get the latest inside...

 photo kanyesocialmedia1.png

Welp.

Kanye West is fed up with social media once again, so he has deleted all of his accounts.

He'll likely come up with some extreme reason why he called it quits, but folks are saying he deleted his social media accounts following the backlash he has received since his pro-Trump rant on "Saturday Night Live."

Ye had everyone sharing their 2 cents after he went on a rant claiming everyone at "SNL" tried to convince him to take his Make America Great Again hat off. He also hopped on Twitter and made a comment about abolishing the 13th amendment and y'all know folks took him straight to school when he tweeted that nonsense.

This isn't the first time Ye has quit social media, so we wouldn't be surprised if he pops back up right around the time he's supposed to release his new album Yahndi, which has been pushed back to November. He's reportedly in Africa working on it now.

“I need to go to what is known as Africa — I need to find out what it’s really called...and just grab the soil and be and cook food,” he said.

Hmph.

In other news...

 photo kanyetaylor.png

Taylor Swift hopped on Instagram to share her political thoughts and now it has folks praising her while slamming Kanye West.

In short, people are saying the pop star cares more about minorities than 'Ye. In her post, she slammed her state's Republican Senate candidate, Marsha Blackburn, for her lack of supporting women, people of color/minorities and the LGBT community. Instead, she's backing Democratic candidates.  Oh?!

It didn't take long for people to start a discussion on how her political support is totally different from her nemesis, Kanye West, who has been pro-Trump since sharing his political views to the masses.

Read her message above, then peep some of the tweets below:

Just FYI, her Senate candidate she's backing - who is also Tennessee's former Governor - says he also would have voted Yes on Kavanaugh.  So, there's that.

On reality television last night...

Last night's episode of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" showed another sisterly fight between Kim and Kourtney Kardashian.

They have been at each other's necks this season and last night's episode was no different. Kourt let Kim HAVE IT and went straight savage mode on her.

No, we don't care.  But we do apprecate Kourt's savageness about Kanye.

The sisters traveled to Japan where Kim was shooting a campaign for husband Kanye West's clothing line, season 7 of Yeezy. When she got there, Kim was NOT pleased with the way her sisters Kourtney and Khloe were dressing. She said their outragous and "crazy" outfits (the audacity chile...) were messing up her looks.

"My sisters look so crazy, like it's actually embarrassing," Kim said. "Kourtney with Japanese-inspired outfits and Khloé's wearing silver sequins, turquoise eyeshadow, huge chandelier earrings. They’re just like completely clashing and making my outfit look really bad and they’re ruining everything. I couldn't even eat dinner because I was so disgusted."

Well damn.

Kim then confronted her sisters, saying they were dressed like "clowns" and that they needed a "fashion overhaul" to stay "young and relevant." She then slammed Kourtney's fashion sense, saying she always looks like a "grandma" when she gets dressed up. Well, Kourt went in on that a**.  She said:

"Your f*cking outfits suck. You're wearing a puffy vest, you have pink hair and turquoise shoes. I didn't come here to wear leggings that are see-through and show my ass. Do you know how easy it is to be a b*tch? It takes a lot more courage to show your feelings and not sit here and be a b*tch."

Kourt also pointed out how rude Kim has been to her and the glam squads.

Bloop! Peep the clips above and below for the SHADE:

Sunday morning...

 photo kanyeflowers.png

Kim K woke up to arrangement of pink roses from her hubby, who we guess wants to make sure stays in her good graces.  He'll need a PR machine since he dropped his own.

“Woke up to all these beautiful flowers on a Sunday," Kim said in an Instagram story. The gesture comes days after Ye convinced her to stop promoting other brands in competition with his. She turned down a lucrative offer from another fashion brand to give all her praise to Yeezy, because, she says, he made her Co-Owner of Yeezy. Hmph.

Chaos erupted during a Lil Wayne performance in Atlanta over the weekend. Get the deets, plus see how YBFers reacted to the brawl that broke out AFTER an official UFC fight inside...

Chaos was unleashed while Lil Wayne was performing over the weekend.

The Young Money honcho, who recently released his highly anticipated Carter V album, hit the stage during the A3C Festival held at The Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta when his set was cut short after someone yelled out that bullets were being fired.

According to reports and witnesses on the scene, Wayne was half way into his set when someone declared there was a gunman in the midst of them and that caused folks to scramble as they attempted to get out of harm's way. However, it doesn't appear to have been a shooter at all.

While no one was shot, people did get injured as they tried to escape. Peep a few clips of the chaos below:

Lordt. That had to be scary.

“There have been approximately 12 minor injuries reported to police such as ankle injuries and lacerations from attempting to jump fences," the Atlanta Police Department told PEOPLE magazine in a statement.

When people began rushing from the scene, bodyguards grabbed Weezy and hauled him off the stage

Here's a clip of Wayne leaving the venue below:

After the drama, Wayne hopped on Twitter, hoping everyone was OK

A3C also issued a statement regarding the incident:

Glad no one was seriously injured.

By the way, Wayne's Carter V has already gone gold, it debuted #1 on Billboard 200, which makes it his fourth #1 album. It's also the 2nd largest U.S. streaming album of the year, so far.

Speaking of drama....

So this happened at UFC 229...

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov were tapped to fight at UFC 229, which was promoted as one of the biggest fights in MMA history. Well, it certainly held up to all the hype.

Khabib Nurmagomedov got the best of McGregor and was ultimately crowned as the winner. However, after the fight ended, he wasn't done. Nurmagomedov ended up hopping over the fence and started a fight with one of the members of McGregor's team. McGregor was also attacked.

Eventually, both fighters were escorted away and Nurmagomedov never received his UFC belt.

Naturally, Twitter went into a frenzy and everyone had something to say about the brawl AFTER the actual fight.

Cardi B and Offset took their love back into the strip club and made it rain on strippers. Go inside for flicks and videos of the lovebirds, plus deets on Quavo and Rick Ross coughing cash to get Uncle Sam off their backs...

Nothing like spending time in the strip club with the love of your life (we guess).

There's no secret Cardi B and her husband Offset love the strip club,so they returned to the scene of the alleged crime.  Cardi's been charged for being involved in two strip club bartenders getting beat up at work, but it's not stopping her from going.

Before she hits the stage at the 2018 American Music Awards, Kuluture's mom and dad hit up Crazy Girls strip club in LA for a night of fun. And they both were living it up in their VIP section:

Aye! Turn up.

Offset also copped Cardi a new whip - a Lambo:

Looks like that drama that unfolded with the two bartenders isn't spoiling Bardi's fun in the strip club. The "I Like It" rapper turned herself in to police after she was charged with two misdemeanors -- assault and reckless endangerment -- for allegedly ordering her camp to beat down two strip club bartenders/sisters.

The "Be Careful" rapper is scheduled to be arraigned on October 29th.

On social media...

 photo cardirappertribute.png

Bardi posted a tribute to her friend/NYC rapper Hollywood Play (real name Frank Snyder) after she was shot dead in front of a club in Queen. The 35-year-old rapper was reportedly hosting a birthday party at Tavern Lounge when shots rang out in the wee hours of the morning. It's reported Hollywood play was shot once in the neck and once in the leg. It's unclear if he was the intended target. We send our condolences to family, friends and fans.

In other news...

Migos rapper Quavo just settled his "beef" with Uncle Sam. He apparently owed over $14,000 in back taxes, which resulted in a tax lien against him by the Georgia Department of Revenue.

According to The Blast, Quavo was accused of skipping out on his state tax bill that totaled $14,055.06 owed from 2016. Since he paid it in full, the lien is now no longer enforcable. While Quavo has paid his debt, his Migos bandmate Takeoff is dealing with tax issues. He too was hit with a tax lien totaling $14,348.23 that hasn't been paid yet.

Another rapper paying off debts...

 photo rickrosstax1.png

Rick Ross just coughed up some serious cash to settle his tax debt with the IRS.

According to The Blast, Rozay paid over $4,617,370.86, to settle a debt from 2012 that was never paid. The site reports:

The IRS originally hit Ross with the lien in 2016 and demanded he pay up or they would being the process to seize his assets.

The release of the tax lien means the IRS is no longer on the hunt for their money and Ross will not have to worry about any of his income being seized to satisfy the debt.

Now he can sip from his black bottles of Belaire in peace.

Drake and Iggy Azalea are canceling tour dates while Kelly Rowland is teasing new music. Get it all inside...

 photo drakecancel.png

Last month, Drake canceled a few dates on "The Aubrey & The Three Amigos" tour with Migos due to falling ill. Now, more takes are being axed.

Billboard serves up the deets about delays that have resulted in cancelations, reporting (via several local news sources):

The Aubrey & The Three Migos tour has gotten trimmed by a few dates. After postponing a show at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, twice the rescheduled Nov. 11 gig by Drake and Migos has now been dropped from the tour's routing; no reason was given for the shows cancelation, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Another show that was previously postponed multiple times (originally slated for July 28 and 29, then re-scheduled and postponed again), a gig at the Pepsi Center in Denver, has also been canceled, according to the Denver Post. Fans in Salt Lake City learned over the weekend that a show at the Vivint Smart Home Arena had been canceled for the second time in four months. All three shows are offering fans refunds at the point of purchase; none of the affected shows currently appear on the tour's routing. A spokesperson for Live Nation could not be reached for further comment at press time.

Yikes. On top of those cancellations, there have been production issues that cause some dates to be postponed and canceled as well. Sheesh. One good thing came out of the tour though. Meek Mill and Drizzy were able to bury the hatchet for the world to see.

Speaking of cancellations...

 photo iggycancel.png

Iggy Azalea hit her fans with a 52 Fake Out. And we're not just talking about those new cakes.

The "Fancy" rapper had announced she was heading out on her "Bad Girls" tour, set to kick off October 27th in Hollywood, Florida, but it's not going to happen. The whole tour has been canceled. She hopped on Twitter to explain it wasn't her choice and she's disappointed about it.

The "Black Widow" rapper then said no matter what, she's going to keep pushing and making music:

You just keep on pushing boo....

The signs were there before she officially announced she was canceling the tour. Her opening act, CupcakKe, pulled out of the tour due to the bag she was promised compared to the bag she was set to receive. She tweeted she wasn't going to go on tour since she "went from getting paid 330K on this tour to 30K.”

Oop!

In new music...

Kelly Rowland has been working hard in the studio. And she's sharing snippets of what she has been working on. In a new Instagram video, she plays a new song she's working on and from the sounds of it, "Killa Kellz" is going to be going IN and gives ZERO f*cks what a hater has to say. Listen to the snippet and tell us if you're feeling it in the comments.

A pop queen, a hip hop pioneer and a soul godmother have all been nominated for the newest class to be admitted tot he Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Yoossssss!

First name Janet, and that's all you need to know. Ms. Jackson has had an epic comeback - getting her flowers from Black Girls Rock & BMI Hip Hop/R&B Honors and more, all while dropping new hit music and a bomb State of the World tour. She's 50-something and still just as groundbreaking as she was when she went from little Penny to the Queen of our Rhythm Nation to Damita Jo to the sexiest velvet-rope-working-chick in the game.

The Rock Hall said:

"She has built a career so groundbreaking that she’s immediately identifiable on a first-name basis. She explored social issues, themes of empowerment and self-confidence, and influenced generations with her stylized music videos with innovative choreography."

Romantic ballads and hard hip-hop hits make up the storied career of @llcoolj who didn't just look out the door - he smashed it wide open.

LL Cool J had us needing love before we even knew what it was. The rapper turned tv host turned award nominated actor to Sirius XM mogul just landed his 5th nod, and he definitely deserves to win it this go-round.   And Rufus featuring Chaka Khan - that legend-steez speaks for itself.

Jacquees 'Trips' Over Ella Mai BLOCKING Him On Social Media + T-Pain Loses Florida Home To Foreclosure + Birdman Works On Settling Tyga's $10 Milli Lawsuit

$

 photo birdmantpainteaser.png

Jacquees is "tripping" over Ella Mai blocking him on social media, T-Pain has lost his home to foreclosure, and Birdman is looking to hash things out with Tyga. Everything inside...

 photo jacquees1.png

Twitter went into a frenzy last month after Jacquees released his "Quemix" of Ella Mai's single "Trip." Folks were really vibin' to it. In fact, they were feelin' it a bit too much and the Cash Money singer was forced to delete his rendition from his YouTube and SoundCloud accounts.

Fans were pissed about it and started dragging Ella Mai on social media for having the "quemix" taken down, even though she didn't really have anything to do with the song being pulled. DJ Mustard, who signed Ella Mai to his label, came to her defense to explain why HE had the track taken down. He tweeted:

“Our artists don’t send cease and desists, we do. When you monetize content you don’t own you are stealing and no one steals from 10 Summers. Ella had no say in the matter and any platform reporting any differently is spreading falsities.”

Reps for Jacquees also released a statement addressing the controversy.

“We love Ella and are cool with her team as well,” the statement read. “He has been releasing not only Quemix songs but entire projects with remixes of other artists’ songs ranging back to 2013. This was an act of genuine support and should not turn into negativity for either of the artist or from their supporters.”

Since then, it appears the British singer has blocked the Quemix King. He tweeted:

 photo jacqueestweet1.png

Oop!

Even amid all of the controversy, that isn't stopping Jacquees from creating another quemix. He's currently working on a rendition of Daniel Caesar's " Get You." Check it below:

He also said "Quemix 3" (which we assume is a mixtape of tracks he remixed) is on the way.

Speaking of the Cash Money camp...

 photo birdmanjacquees.png

Birdman recently settled that multi-million lawsuit that Lil Wayne filed against him. Now, he's looking to make amends with his former artist Tyga.

Tyga filed a $10 million lawsuit against the Cash Money honcho for breach of contract, accusing Birdman of stiffing him out of millions of dollars. He made claims that he was not receiving royalities for his albums Careless World and Hotel California after they parted ways in 2016. He reportedly kept asking for his coins, but the check was never cut.

The Blast reports

On October 1, docs were filed in the case in which Birdman’s Cash Money is asking for an extension to respond to the lawsuit. Birdman acknowledges that his answer was due this week but is requesting until the end of the month.

He explains that Tyga has already agreed to the “extension of time to facilitate ongoing settlement discussions.”

A judge has yet to rule.

Rumors have swirled for years that Birdman doesn't pay his artists properly. Sounds like he's possibly turning a new leaf. We wonder if his boo Toni Braxton has anything to do with it.

In other news...

 photo tpainforeclosure.png

T-Pain has lost a Florida home to foreclosure after reportedly blowing off a lawsuit for months. Deutsche Bank sued him last year for not paying the mortgage on his home in Palm Beach County. Now, it's gone!

The Blast breaks down the finances:

The bank accused T-Pain of failing to make the mortgage payments since July 2016. Deutsche claimed he owed $83,061.86 on the note, plus interest. He originally took out an $85,800 loan in 2007 for the property.

T-Pain never bothered to appear in court and the bank demanded a default judgment, which was granted on September 26. The judge ordered the singer to pay a total of $117,158.22 — $83k owed on the principal plus interest and legal fees.

The order states if T-Pain does not pay the entire $117K by October 29, then the home will be sold to the highest bidder at a public auction.

You have to pay to stay!

Call her Señiorita! Cardi B. is channeling her own "I Like It" video look at tonight's AMAs, and she makes it work.  Check out how she hit the carpet with her hubby and took home her first AMA win inside...

 photo SPL5031915_058_zpswey8fcyc.jpg

Kisses for the Mrs!  Cardi B. went full on floral for tonight's American Music Awards going own at the Microsoft Theater in L.A.  The look was a nod to Hispanic Heritage Month, plus the fact she was delivering the first televised performance of her, Bad Bunny's & J. Balvin's overplayed (but we still love it) hit "I Like It".

Kulture Kiari's mommy proved she's not letting criminal charges or rap beefs stop her bags, so she was all smiles on tonight's red carpet.  While the look would have ONLY worked for tonight's special occasion, she looked pretty and right on theme in head to toe pink and red floral motif from her head piece to her shoes:

Cardi won the first award of the night, Best Rap/Hip Hop Artist, which is also her very first AMA. She said during her acceptance speech:

"I really want to thank my daughter. And not just because she's my daughter.  When I was pregnant, I was so influenced to be, like, 'Yo, I got to do this, I got to show people wrong. I got to prove people wrong.' Because they said I wasn't going to make it after I had a baby."

2018 AMAs CARPET: Pink & Pantsuits! Tracee Ellis Ross, Ella Mai, Amara La Negra, J.Lo & More Hold It Down

Pink and pantsuits took over the red carpet at the 2018 American Music Awards. Go inside for red carpet drips from Tracee Ellis Ross, Ella Mai, Amara La Negra, Ciara, her son Future and more...

 photo YOUT2.jpg

It's Breast Cancer Awareness month and several celebrities hit the red carpet at the 2018 American Music Awards to show support. Women rocking pantsuits were also a trend we noticed for this year's award show that was held inside the Microsoft Theater in LA.

Tracee Ellis Ross came ready to represent Breast Cancer Awareness month and power suits to host for her 2nd consecutive year, tying with her mother Diana Ross, who hosted the show in both 1986 and 1987.

 photo TraceeEllisRoss2018AmericanMusicAwards39ujutIrMAGl.jpg

 photo TraceeEllisRoss2018AmericanMusicAwardsSdATu2frPSDl.jpg

The "black-ish" actress said ALL of her looks were "for the culture" as she was rocking all designs created by black designers. Shoutout to inclusiveness. For her red carpet look, she wore a pink and black Pyer Moss suit before opening the show with a 3 in a half minute choreographed dance routine.

 photo YOUT5.jpg

Ella Mai also served up oversized pantsuit realness in a look custom designed by Sergio Hudson.  We're underwhelmed.  A pop of bold color and a better tailor would have made this look bomb.

The British songbird was nominated for two AMAs, including Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B and Favorite Song – Soul/R&B. Does her look have you all in your feelings or nah?

 photo YOUT3.jpg

"Love & Hip Hop: Miami" star/artist Amara La Negra def served up a bold look when she pulled up on the red carpet. The "What A Bam Bam" singer posed it up in an iridescent Valentino Omar pantsuit. No bueno, but she's still a bad chick nonetheless.

 photo YOUT13.jpg

Four-time nominee Khalid, who copped the Favorite Soul/R&B Make Artist award, kept it stylish, yet comfortable, in a pink suit and dad sneakers.

 photo YOUT15.jpg

Actress/singer/dancer Jennifer Lopez, who was tapped to perform, showed off her Breast Cancer Awareness support as she twirled in a hot pink Georges Chakra gown paired with a black clutch and black peep-toe shoes by Jimmy Choo.

JLo performed “Limitless," song from her upcoming film Second Act, which is scheduled to hit theaters December 14th. Her man Alex Rodriguez was front row in the audience too.

 photo YOUT4.jpg

It looks like Tyra Banks transformed into a Life Size doll in a Gucci fringe skirt that she paired with a dramatic white Caroline Constas top and St. Germaine top hat. On the carpet, she confirmed Life Size 2 will be released in December.

 photo YOUT7.jpg

After recently wrapping up the "On The Run II" Tour with Beyonce & Jay Z, singers/sisters Chloe x Halle made their way on the carpet in Valentino gowns.

Slay, Marsai Martin! The "black-ish" cutie oozed magic and everything nice in a tulle Pamella Roland dress.

The Hate U Give actress/presenter Amandla Stenberg kept it casual and cute in a Ralph Lauren blazer and Levi jeans.

The flick (it's SO good!) hits theaters October 19th.

 photo Quavo2018AmericanMusicAwardsArrivalshqSYwniXXQGl.jpg

Migos rapper Quavo, who accepted the Favorite Duo/Group award with Offset, came through dripping. Drip. Drip.

 photo YOUT9.jpg

Singer Sevyn Streeter rolled up in the place with style and grace in a Zhivago dress and Versace shoes.

 photo YOUT14.jpg

Musical icon Gladys Knight made her way on the carpet in a black caped dress before she hit the stage to honor the legendaryAretha Franklin.

Looking good, Auntie!

 photo 2018AmericanMusicAwardsArrivalsCqKymNsgN9dl.jpg

Singer Ledisi put together a look from designers OTT, Dubai, Vicky Tiel via NyLaurent, LAMARQUE and Casadei before she joined Gladys and others to honor Aretha Franklin.

E! News correspondent Zuri Hall rocked a flirty frock from Giambattista Valli's FW15 collection.

While chatting on the carpet, Ashlee revealed she struggled with finding the perfect outfit to meet Evan's mom, Diana Ross. Can't blame her.

Performer Ty Dolla Sign and his girlfriend/Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jaureguicoordinated their looks for the evening. On the carpet, he said he matched his shoes to her dress.

Adorbs!

Ciara - looking stunning in a side-zipped mini dress-jacket and heels that showed off her ridiculously killer legs - chopped it up on the carpet with "RHOBH" star and singer Erika Jayne and her co-host.  But while she was dishing about her role as hubby Russell Wilson's head honcho of his Why Not? Foundation, look who stole the show:

Get into performances by Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Khalid at the 2018 American Music Awards inside...

Y'all know Mariah Carey isn't busting too much of a sweat ...ever.

Folks were busy tweeting, trying to figure out if Mariah Carey was lip syncing when she hit the stage at the 2018 American Music Awards to perform her recently released single "With You." The track will be featured on her upcoming album, set to drop later this year.

Donning a hot pink gown (in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month), MiMi belted out her new track during her first AMAs performance since 2008.

However, folks accused her of using a pre-recorded vocal track.

Peep the tweets:

Nothing new here.

Also debuting new music...

Jennifer Lopez debuted her new song "Limitless," a track from her upcoming film, Second Act, during the 2018 AMAs.

The performance opened with a clip from the movie before JLo began singing the tune. On the carpet, the actress/singer/dancer said she was excited to perform the single because she loves the song (which was written by SIA) so much and that it's empowering for the world right now.

In Second Act, JLo plays a woman named Maya, whose lack of a college degree has left her with unfulfilled career dreams until her friends create a false identity for her, which lands her a prestigious job in New York City. Her bestie Leah Remini also stars in it.

Second Act is scheduled to hit theaters December 14th.

 photo amaskhalid.png

After copping the Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist award, Khalid hit the stage alongside Benny Blanco and Halsey to perform their chart topping hit, "Eastside." The stage was transformed into a bedroom studio where the trio rocked out to their pop bop, which spent 12 weeks on the Hot 100.

Decked out in every color, bomb curly wiggery and ruffles and pom poms (all custom Dolce & Gabbana), Cardi B., J. Balvin and Bad Bunny served us a lit fiesta with a side of Gang Gang.  Their first televised performance of "I Like It" had everybody on one:

Why not capitalize on the buzz that's clearly at a fever pitch?!

The official video for “Taki Taki” by DJ Snake (who made "Turn Down For What" and "Let Me Love You" major hits) featuring Selena Gomez, Ozuna, and Cardi B, directed by Colin Tilley, dropped right after the performance.

It's currently the most-streamed song in the world on Spotify for a week straight now, so it's only right to drop the visuals in the middle of an Awards show.  “Taki Taki” marks the second global number one record for the French DJ/producer, and a first number one for Selena Gomez, Ozuna, and Cardi B, who is the first female rapper to top the chart.

Get it.

Terrence J's Alleged Midnight Hit-N-Run That WRECKED His $300K McLaren - The Woman Driving WAS NOT Girlfriend Jasmine Sanders Afterall

$

 photo Screen Shot 2018-10-10 at 1.04.05 AM_zpsrgcgmgcu.png

Terrence J.'s $300,000 car was seemingly totalled when it was found wrapped around a tree after midnight Tuesday.  But the mystery around who was driving just got an interesting plot twist....

Damn homie!  It's gotta hurt to see your extremely expensive McClaren damn near gutted from a collision with a tree.  But the aftermath about who was driving JUST might end up hurting a little more.

The Blast broke the story Tuesday morning - the actor/host's car was found abandoned and wrecked in Studio City section of L.A. just after midnight:

According to LAPD emergency dispatch audio, a call came in around 12:30 AM Tuesday morning to report a McLaren sports car crashed into and came to rest at a tree on Ventura Blvd. The car also damaged a water line near a business and needed to have the water shut off.

Terrence, as well as the driver - who was a female and folks swore was his longtime girlfriend, model Jasmine Sanders - allegedly hopped out this MAJOR wreckage and into an Uber (according to other sources).

The tow truck company who took the McLaren tells us the vehicle is registered to Thomas Jenkins, a longtime BET star and former host of “106 & Park.” We’re also told the cops informed the tow truck driver Jenkins was a celebrity.

The driver and passenger allegedly ran from the car, and according to witnesses, cops were looking for a black male wearing a red sweater and a female wearing a blue jumpsuit.

According to TMZ, the law says the driver MUST leave a note before fleeing:

BTW ... a driver involved in an accident that causes death, injury or property damage must leave a note with identifying information. At the very least, the driver should have left a note on the parking meter. Hit-and-run is a crime.

 photo Screen Shot 2018-10-10 at 1.01.29 AM_zps3k1dzzbj.png

But get this.  While the internet was dragging Jasmine Sanders - who news sources assumed was the said mystery female driver who was spotted wearing a blue jumpsuit - her rep told TMZ it DEF wasn't her.

A rep for Jasmine Sanders tells us ... "On behalf of our client, Jasmine Sanders, we would like to clarify that Ms. Sanders was not in the vehicle at the time of this morning’s accident and was in no way involved."

Oop.  Who you ridin' around and gettin' it and fleeing scenes with after midnight TJ?! Hopefully it was an assistant or someone you call "your sister"....

Terrence posted himself hopping out the tight whip just 6 months ago:

Glad everyone was OK enough to walk away....

Oh, The Aretha Franklin AMAs Tribute Took Us To CHURCH Church!

Aretha Franklin's spirit was all up and through the 2018 American Music Awards as black singers hit the stage to sing praises to the most high in her honor. Catch the Holy Spirit inside...

 photo amasaretha6.png

Aretha Franklin's physical body may no longer be with us, but her musical spirit is still amongst us.

A handful of YBF stars hit the stage at the 2018 American Music Awards held at the Microsoft Theater to pay tribute to the late Aretha Franklin.

Gladys Knight, Donnie McClurkin, CeCe Winanas, Ledisi, and Mary Mary performed a medley of gospel hits, including a few hymns she performed famous renditions of, to honor the Queen of Soul.

Aretha's 1972 album Amazing Grace is still the best-selling live gospel album. Over the years, the Queen of Soul won six AMAs and hosted the awards show in 1976 and 1983.

Auntie Gladys performed a stirring rendition of gospel classic "Amazing Grace," then Donnie McClurkin hit the stage to sing "Climb Higher Mountains," which was played at Aretha's funeral.

 photo amasaretha5.png

 photo amasaretha7.png

The gorgeous CeCe Winans then hit the stage to perform "Mary Don't You Weep." She was followed by Ledisi who sung "How I Got Over." Then, Mary Mary brought down the house with "Old Landmark."

 photo amasaretha4.png

 photo amasaretha8.png

We couldn't help but notice how most of the non-people of color in the audience looked like they had no idea what they were listening to. That off beat clapping and dancing lie they were at the club chile.   We couldn't help but cringe. Oh wells.  Let the spirit move 'em as it may.

Quavo and Saweetie were all boo'd up at the 2018 American Music Awards last night. Get into their love fest, plus see XXXTentacion's mom accept an award on his behalf inside...

Quavo is on some next level ish. He just recently paid off a tax debt and he seemingly has a new lady in his life.

Yep, the rumors appear to be true. There's a new rap couple for the youngings to stan over. Quavo and Saweetie served up coupledom vibes on the red carpet before the 2018 American Music Awards held at the Microsoft Theater last night.

 photo Saweetie2018AmericanMusicAwardsArrivals8oF60-rHtZsl.jpg

Rumors have been swirling about these two for a couple of months now, and now we know it's official. They made their first red carpet appearance together last night, and we caught Saweetie stanning for her man in the audience when he accepted the Favorite Pop/Rock Group award with Offset.

 photo quavosaweetie2.png

Watch her (next to Cardi B, who is also stanning out) below:

By the way, we're not exactly sure how Migos fit into the Pop/Rock genre, but hey, it's 2018 and anything is possible.  Hip Hop IS Pop culture these days.

Back to the couple...

Earlier this week Saweetie, who's been previously linked to Diddy's son Justin Combs and "New Edition Story" star Keith Powers, appeared on "The Real" and she was asked if she and the ATL rapper are dating. She said they were "getting to know each other" and that she really "enjoys his company." Mmhmm.

Check it:

It seems their love story began after Quavo tapped Saweetie to star in his "Workin Me" video. You know, the usual.  Congrats to them.

Also during the show...

Rapper XXXTentacion's legacy lives on.

The late rapper was awarded the Favorite Soul/R&B album for his debut album, 17. His mother, Cleopatra Bernard, stepped in on his behalf to accept the award.

As expected, she got a little emotional as she thanked everyone for honoring and loving her son.

“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of my son." she told the audience. "I would like to thank the AMAs, his fans and to everyone who made this possible. Thank you guys so much. I appreciate this.”

Check it above.

The 20-year-old rapper was fatally shot outside of a motorcycle dealership near Fort Lauderdale, Florida back in June. Since then, at least four men have been arrested and charged with first degree murder and armed robbery.

May he rest in peace.

Cardi B Tells W Magazine About THAT Confrontation With Nicki Minaj + Hustler Kerry Washington Covers Marie Claire, Talks Creating Her Own Magic!

 photo cardikerryteaser.png

Cardi B and Kerry Washington are heating up the magazine circuit with high fashions and girl-next-door-esque shoots. And they're also spilling tea and dropping gems. Get it all inside...

 photo cardiw1.png

The glow up continues for Cardi B even after that infamous NYFW altercation that resulted in her throwing at shoe at her nemesis Nicki Minaj during Harper's Bazaar's ICON party.

 photo cardiw_1.png

The "I Like It" rapper is featured on the cover of W magazine's Art Issue along with a high fashion spread where she's drapped in designer threads from Givenchy, Chanel and Rodarte.

In the cover story, Bardi explained what set her off and WHY she chose to confront the "Chun-Li" rapper during the ICONS party.

“For a while now she’s been taking a lot of shots at me,” Bardi explained. “I spoke to her twice before, and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going.”

While a NYFW party isn't the ideal place to confront someone you have issues with, Cardi said she seized the opportunity because they don't cross paths often. So what set Cardi off in the first place? Apparently, it was brought to her attention that Nicki liked a comment/social media post that critisized her parenting skills. And the new mother doesn't play when it comes to motherhood.

“I was going to make millions off my Bruno Mars tour, and I sacrificed that to stay with my daughter,” she said. “I love my daughter. I’m a good-ass fucking mom. So for somebody that don’t have a child to like that comment? So many people want to say that party wasn’t the time or the place, but I’m not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block.”

After the incident, Nicki got on Queen Radio to confirm she never spoke ill towards baby Kulture Kiari. “I am not a clown. That’s clown shit," she said.

You can read the rest of Cardi's cover story here where she talks about her past, becoming a new mom and more.

In the meantime, peep her high fashion spread below:

Also on the magazine circuit...

 photo kerrym5.png

Life after "Scandal" is just as good for Kerry Washington.

The former OPA honcho is gearing up to make her return to Broadway in a new play titled, "American Son," that she's also producing. Before Kerry flexes her stage skills this fall, she put her best model foot forward for Marie Claire's November 2018 "Power" issue.  Chick is efortlessly gorge.

 photo kerrym.png

No surprise Kerry was chosen to front the issue being that she's a power player in Hollywood.

 photo kerrym2.png

 photo kerrym3.png

And she can give her own self credit for it because she's a hustler that's never giving up and will go after whatever she wants to create in her life.

 photo kerrym1.png

"Honestly, I think about power as more of an internal phenomenon," she told the publication. "I tend to think about empowerment for myself so that I have the courage and ability to act on the ideologies and priorities that resonate with me. I've always wanted to cultivate a sense of empowerment within myself without seeking approval from outside sources, which is hard to do as an actor, which is part of why producing is so important and which is where some of my freedom, or learning, to take that sense of freedom and bring it to a larger audience and larger space has a lot to do with having my employer be a black woman."

 photo kerrym4.png

The 41-year-old actress/producer/ director/mother/wife (we could keep going) is a straight hustler and she's not waiting around for anyone to create magic in her life. During an interview with CBS This Morning, she dropped some gems we all could learn from:

A whole message!

Peep her full interview below:

Ugh! Love her! You can read her full profile in Marie Claire here.

Catch Kerry work her magic in "American Son" when it debuts on Broadway on November 4th. You might want to cop your tickets now. They're selling like hot cakes.
