It was a homecoming event this weekend in Chicago as Common presented his new music festival AAAH! at Union Park in the Windy City. He called up some of his fellow Chicagoans to help put on an epic show, including a surprise performance by Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Lupe Fiasco, Lil Herb and other artists including MC Lyte, De La Soul, Jay Electronica and a special performance by Diggy Simmons.

Hosted by funnyman Dave Chappelle, Common (who performed a moving set during the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards) and others rocked the mic for hundreds of Hip Hop fans in Chi-town, powered by by Rhymefest and Donda's House. The Nobody's Smiling rapper (who recently lost his father) decided to put the festival together to help unite his hometown, creating peace and love while vibing to some of their favorite artist.

And in Brooklyn....

On the heels of dropping her new Hard Core 2K14 mixtape, Lil Kim got back in her element and hit the stage for the SOURCE360 concert at the Barclays Center on Saturday. She also trekked it back to her hometown, hitting the stage in Brooklyn.
 

She took to her Twitter to thank her fans tweeting, "BROOKLYN!!!! Thank U for the love. Had to come thru and murder the stage last night to represent for my borough …"

In celebration of The Source’s 25th anniversary, the new mom (who's looking great post baby by the way) is proving she still has it. She rocked the stage with performances of her 2011 mixtape title track “Black Friday”, taking back with the “Quiet Storm” remix featuring Havoc of Mobb Deep and her 50 Cent assisted track “Magic Stick”. She also performed her remix to Bobby Shmurda’s catchy single, “Hot N*gga.”

In a video that's gone viral, reporter Charlo Greene revealed her passion for cannabis as she quit her tv gig - LIVE - ON AIR - with the words, "F*ck It. I quit!"  Watch the clip inside, plus her follow up explanation, and see Nicole Murphy starring as Johnny Gill's chick in his upcoming video. 

For now, former Alaska reporter Charlo Greene is the most famous woman in television news. The ex-KTVA face has gone viral for quitting her gig on-air after revealing that she's choosing to follow her passion and dedicate her life to the legalization of marijuana in her state.

She said, "Now, everything you've heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska.

And as for this job, well...not that I have a choice, but f--k it, I quit."

EPIC!  However, don't try this at your own jobs kids, especially if you still need the benefits.

The station removed her profile from their website immediately and deleted the segment...but it didn't stop the video from going viral.

Charlo has not made any further public statements...but we're sure her friends in Alaska played "puff puff pass" all night.

Eddie Murphy's ex-wife Nicole Murphy may raise a few eyebrows in her latest modeling gig. Nicole, the stunning mother of five and star of "Hollywood Exes" plays the girlfriend of Eddie's best friend Johnny Gill in his upcoming video "Behind Closed Doors."

In the preview, Nicole is on the cusp of finding out that Johnny is cheating in her. While we don't know if the video will include scenes of Johnny and Nicole getting intimate, we guess it could get a little weird.  But a job is a job.

And we suspect Nicole's "acting" in the video may pull on personal experience since it's ALLEGED her ex-fiance Michael Strahan was cheating on her...behind closed doors.

If you didn't get enough of rapper Waka Flocka and his new wife Tammy on "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta"....they're apparently getting a spinoff show.  Read about it inside...

Both Waka and Tammy posted the above sneak peek, which may serve as the promo pic for the spinoff show they say they've nabbed. (We've since learned this may have been a fan created photo.)

No details have been released and VH1 has yet to confirm themselves.  But if this actually sees the light of day, we have an inkling about what the storyline could be.

On "LAHH: ATL", Waka & Tammy decided to get married...behind momager Deb Antney's back.  And once Deb came around to the idea and started demanding "lots of babies", the couple learned that may not be as easy as they thought.

Waka learned he has a low sperm count and needs medicine to rectify the situation.  And since Tammy already has one child, this could be an interesting storyline for the spinoff.

Kanye West, North West& Kim West have arrived in London on the day Paris Fashion Week kicks off. Peep their candids and what they’re up to inside…

14-month-old North West is racking up on her frequent flyer miles as she travels the world with her dad Kanye West and mom Kim West. Nori and Kim jetted out of L.A. yesterday to meet up with 'Ye in his hometown of Chicago.

And today, they were spotted making their way through London Heathrow Airport as they arrive on the day Paris Fashion Week begins.  So they'll probably be skipping across the English Channel for a few shows.

Chicago native Common bought some brotherly love to the Windy City for his newly organized AAHH Festival at Union Park on Sunday. Ye made a special stop in Chi-town (sometimes called “Chiraq” for the growing gun violence) to hit the stage for a surprise performance. Other performers included Jennifer Hudson, MC Lyte, Lupe Fiasco, De La Soul, Jay Electronica and Diggy Simmons. 

Now, the Wests are in London possibly there to check out a few runway shows for Paris Fashion Week. You know these two love Paris and fashion…so it makes sense. One of Kim’s favorite fashion houses, Balmain, will be putting their latest spring/summer '15 fashions on the runway.  So we’re sure Kim (and possibly Kanye) will be front row.

Miu Miu, Christian Dior, Hermes and Chanel (to name a few) will also be revealing their latest collections this week.

In today's new music round-up, Kendrick Lamar returns with "i", Mary J. Blige deals with a painful breakup on "Whole Damn Year" and Azealia Banks is "Chasing Time."  Listen inside.... 

Expectations are high for Kendrick Lamar's sophomore album and his first release is an anthem of self-reassurance "i."  Set against a sample of The Isley Brother's "Who's That Lady", Kendrick repeats the mantra "I Love Myself."

“Everybody lack confidence, how many times my potential was anonymous? / How many times the city makin’ me promises, so I promise this / I love myself.”

Kendrick talked about avoiding the sophomore slump and following up his classic debut GKMC in COMPLEX a few months ago,  “If I keep focusing on, ‘I need to make something better than good kid,’ it’s going to be just that,” says Kendrick. “That’s not challenging yourself. I don’t want to become that person reflecting on what has been done. What I’m doing now is the question. I’m only as good as my last word, my last hook, my last bridge.”

The next single from Mary J. Blige's highly-anticipated album The London Sessions in the piano-tinged “Whole Damn Year.”  It's classic Mary..a tragic song about a bad breakup that take FIVE year of recovery. “It took a whole damn year to repair my body / It’s been a bad five years / Gone take a long, long year for me to trust somebody.” 

The London Sessions is expected to drop December 2nd.

In other new tracks...

Another year...another delay...another set back...another single.  We don't know if Azealia Banks' LONG delayed debut album Broke With Expensive Taste will become a myth (much like Dr. Dre's Detox) but one thing's for sure...she's NEVER stopped dropping singles or videos. Azealia's follow-up to Heavy Metal & Reflective is a Euro-pop breakup record, "Chasing Time."

The song is catchy, bouncy and features another one of Azealia's undeniable flows...but will it be a hit? Maybe, maybe not. At this point, it doesn't seem like Azealia is chasing a hit. She's an artist. Either you like her...or you don't.  And we're liking this right here.

By the way, she hit the stage at the O2 Academy Brixton in London on Friday (pictured above).

Actor Denzel Washington attended the 'The Equalizer' New York premiere at AMC Lincoln Square Theater last night.  And his new film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, is set to hit theaters this Frday.  The crime thriller flick is a take off from the late 80's tv series of the same name.  

Denzel said on "GMA" today that he purposely didn't watch the series so that he wouldn't let any parts of it influenced his take on the movie character.

Sexy Idris Elba is making his rounds since landing the No. 1 spot at the box office for No Good Deed. The actor attended the MOBO Awards nominations in London, nabbing an award of his own, and was spotted leaving his hotel in SoHo. Pics and deets inside….

British hunk Idris Elba hit up the UK’s MOBO Awards (Music Of Black Origin) nominations launch at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London today.

The dapper No Good Deed star has plenty to celebrate after the film landed the No. 1 spot on the opening weekend at the box office. And now he's making history in his hometown. He was presented with the inaugural MOBO Inspiration Award, which was created to recognize an individual who has gained success in their field of work against the odds and exudes inspiration. He surely fits the bill.

He posed it up with British television/radio personality Sarah-Jane Crawford, who presented the “Luther” star with the award.

The Mandela star also had a little fun with MOBO Awards creator Kanya King. Recently, Idris revealed he would love to play the James Bond role if the opportunity was ever presented. He definitely has the looks for the part…whew!

On taking up boxing at age 17, to combat Scoliosis:

"People might think that because I'm skinny and tall, I'm fragile. But I always knew I wasn't. And it's comforting to know that I can throw a proper punch if I have to."

On why she workouts and has a steady diet of fruit and vegatables:

"I want to last in my career, and that relies on the way my body performs. So I need to take care of it. I need to push myself. I don't want to be on such a strict diet that I don't have fun. So if I eat sweets, I'll just put in more of an effort when I go to the gym."

K. Michelle and “Love & Hip Hop Hollywood” star Soulja Boy are going AT IT via social media. And it all stems from K’s recent interview with The Breakfast Club.

During her chat with the NYC radio hosts, K went IN on Soulja Boy for insinuating in a previous interview that he had sex with her.

The “Love Em All” singer was clearly ticked off about Soulja’s comments and used the Breakfast Club’s platform to set the record straight. She popped off saying,"I watched an interview and Soulja Boy was on this interview and they was asking him like, asking all the men of Love & Hip Hop LA, who would they bang. And hey said me… ok great…but Soulja Boy implies that he had slept with me.”

Then she goes IN: "He’s giggling, he’s like ‘Nah I ain’t say that’ and then he’s giggling. You can giggle on these nuts! Let me tell you something Soulja Boy, cause I know you gone hear this, what you not gone do is lie on my hot pocket. When I do something, I say I did it. And that’s what it is. Kerry Washington made her way back to the “Good Morning America” set this morning, a day after launching the “Scandal” Limited Line collection. And this time she’s dishing on the brand new season of the ABC series that we cannot WAIT to see.

The fab mom looked radiant in a yellow plunging dress as she dished on what’s in store for Olivia Pope this season. On the last episode, we were left on the edge of our seats after Oliva quit OPA and hopped on plane in hopes of restarting her life away from the White House. When asked about what's coming up in the new season, Kerry didn’t reveal much (cause we just love the twisted turns of the show), but she did let us in on what we can expect in the first episode. She said,

“I can tell you, you will know where the plane is going. In the very first episode, you will find out.”

We're rarely treated to inside deets about working for some of the world's biggest celebs (shout out to confidentiality agreements!) but publicist Yvette Noel-Schure spoke on "The Jake Sasseville Show" recently about representing Mariah, Prince, Beyonce and working her way up through Sony.  Check out interview highlights below:

On Prince

“When I did publicity for Prince for one year (the best year of my life!), I was the greatest actress that year. I never let him think I was a fan. It was very easy to talk to him which I didn’t anticipate.”

“What I loved about working with Prince is he expected me to bring something to the table. “Musicology” was reaching a fan base that didn’t grow up with Prince and I thought it was time to go to those newer fans… when I convinced him to do Black Beat Magazine, the magazine I ran for all those years, not only did he say yes, Rudi Meyer (editor of Black Beat) came and spent two hours with Prince sitting and talking to him.”

“You can’t record Prince’s voice. It was a lesson in seeing these journalists having to listen, take notes and Prince understood that he had to slow it down if he didn’t want to be misquoted.”

On Mariah

“[On my first day at Sony,] I was wearing a beautiful black dress. All the powerful people wore black, so I knew I had to wear black. I was ready to find a stack of things on artists no one cared about. Instead, there was one folder on my chair and it said Mariah Carey. She was the biggest music star in the world. I took the folder and ran to Larry Jenkins office… I told him someone forgot the Mariah Carey folder in my chair. Larry said Yvette, she is your client. And I need you to study up on everything.”

“Not only was Mariah Carey the biggest star in the world at the time, she was married to the CEO of Sony Music Tommy Mottola. Not only am I now responsible for the biggest star in the world but I have to report to Tommy Mottola, the husband of the biggest music star in the world and the CEO on the first day that I become a publicist having never been a publicist before.”

“It’s as if someone took me out on a lake, threw me out into the crater, and as they were pulling away, then asked Do you even know how to swim.”

On Beyonce and Destiny's Child

“I sat down with them (Destiny’s Child) and did makeup lessons… they were pretty advanced because Miss Tina Knowles was such a central figure in the lives of the girls of Destiny’s Child. Not just Beyonce, but Kelly who was raised in her house. LaTavia (Roberson) and LeToya (Luckett), the original two members, where the friendship blossomed in that house. They understood about hair and how they wanted to look. I knew in that moment that if Columbia Records trusted me with these young women, and if Tina and Matthew Knowles trusted me to be around these young women and knew that if they walked out of a room, they knew I wasn’t going to be shooting up a needle or smoking a blunt… I knew being a publicist was not what I needed to do. I knew I had to be a teacher and I had to be a guide and mentor.”

“One of the things I know that Beyonce probably appreciates about me, especially now that she has a family… is that I always said to the girls, at the end of everything, I’m going home to my babies. It got to the point where the girls of Destiny’s Child used to mouth it to me after the interviews or press day. She’s going home to her babies.”

When "Movie Night" goes down on "Dancing With the Stars", movie star Kevin Hart will be filling in for Len Goodman as a guest judge!  Next Monday, Sept. 29th, The Wedding Ringer star will bring the jokes as he critiques the celeb contestants.

Hart, 35, will join judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, and Bruno Tonioli in evaluating the 11 remaining celebs and their pro partners as they boogie down to songs from their favorite films.

And if you've been watching the show, it probably came as no surprise that Tavis Smiley was eliminated last night in week 2.  He and his partner Sharna Burgess tried their damndest...but it just didn't cut it.  At all.

Jennifer Hudson dropped by "Late Night" where she talked about her new JHUD disc and her alter ego "Jones." Over on Instagram, pregnant Zoe Saldana showed off her pole-dancing skills.  More inside...

Jennifer Hudson celebrated the release of her JHUD album (in stores now) with an appearance on Late Night with Seth Myers.  Jen looked stunning in over the nee leather boots, a white top, shorts and a blazer. She tweeted, "Never feel right without my red lip."

While discussing the album JHUD, she told Seth,"It's more like a dance album this time around.  I've gotten to be me in my age.  That's why I named it JHUD.  It represents me the person..and not so much the Jennifer Hudson persona.  I find my groove in this album."

Jen also revealed that Grace Jones was the inspiration behind the JHUD album and that she's developed an alter ego named JONES.

She revealed to Seth that she learned to perform in gays clubs in Chicago.  The drag queens would dress her up and she'd sing for tips.  Work!

Kerry Washington and her family were spotted leaving their New York City hotel following a round of promo appearances for the new season of "Scandal."  Watch Kerry on 'The Tonight Show' inside... 

GLADIATORS - It's almost time!  "Scandal" star Kerry Washington was spotted in New York City where she's promoting the season 4 premiere of the hits series on ABC (Thursday, 8p CT). 

Lucky photographers caught a very rare photo op as Kerry was seen leaving The Ritz-Carlton with her family in tow.  We rarely see her and hubby Nnamdi together in the SAME frame....

The couple's daughter Isabelle was carried out of the hotel by whom we assume is a nanny.  Unfortunately, we still don't get to see little Isabella's face.  Kerry is famously private and there's no telling when and if we'll ever see a family photo spread. 

On the promo trail......

Kerry is not in NYC for pleasure....it's all business.  And yesterday she rocked a fab polka dotted look that made us swoon.

The fourth season of "Scandal" starts tomorrow and she even has a "Scandal" inspired clothing line with The Limited, which she debuted on GMA this week.

Kerry wore a stunning red, white and blue dress for her appearance on "The Tonight Show." 

We learned that the title of the first episode of the new season, airing tomorrow night, will be 'Randy, Red, Superfreak and Julia" AND the second episode is called "The State Of The Nation."  It looks like her outfits follow the theme of the show...clever.

And of ocourse, Jimmy brought the fun and foolery.

OXYGEN is bringing more "Christianity" to TV, via reality tv. And this new show will be following a group of preachers from Detroit. Get the deets inside….

After the success of the controversial hit series “Preacher of L.A.”, OXYGEN has a new spinoff show in the works entitled “Preachers of Detroit”.

The new series is taking us to Motown to chronicle the men and women of God as they tackle life’s challenges and triumphs in and out of the pulpit. The network also plans to develop New York, Atlanta and Dallas editions of the show.  Of course.

The prominent pastors of Detroit include:

Bishop Charles H. Ellis III of Greater Grace Temple.

Evangelist and gospel singer Dorinda Clark-Cole. She has a new single "You Are" on ITunes and a clothing line, "The Rose Collection”.

Reverend David Alexander Bullock of Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church.

Pastor Don W. Shelby of Burning Bush International Ministries Church of God.

Bishop Corletta Vaughn is the Senior Pastor of Holy Ghost Baptist Cathedral.

Bishop-Elect Clarence Langston of Word In Action Christian Center.

Pastor Tim Alden is the senior pastor of City of Praise Christian Church located in L.A. He's originally from Detroit.

Wowzers!  Amber Rose just dropped the ultimate shocker.  Nope, not her ASSets in other twerk video....but DIVORCE PAPERS!  Deets inside...

We can't even lie.  We didn't necessarily see this one coming.  Amber Rose just filed divorce papers on Wiz Khalifa, less than two months after their 1-year wedding anniversary.

It was all good just a month ago.  Rapper Wiz had his scantily clad wife on his arm (above) at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.  And Amber is known to gush about her man on a constant basis.  So what went wrong?  It's unclear, but Amber wants full legal and physical custody of their son Sebastian and she wants the prenup--which allows for spousal support--to be upheld.

TMZ reports:

In the divorce docs -- obtained by TMZ -- Amber says they split on Monday and cites irreconcilable differences.

Amber is asking for full legal and physical custody of their 1-year-old son Sebastian. She's willing to give Wiz visitation.

And this is interesting. Amber acknowledges there's a prenup, which you would think would work in Wiz' favor, but she says it's valid ... presumably, she's not challenging it. The docs say the prenup provides spousal support.

Well, this is unfortunate.

Amber is also leaving the marriage with a budding acting career budding (she's on the upcoming ABC show "Selfie" and a few other gigs) and a new manager in Nick Cannon...who is also recently single. 

Hmmm...

There were unconfirmed and unfounded rumors of infidelity circulating once Amber became a client of Nick Cannon's.

We're sure details will spill soon, because reportedly, the split is BITTER.

Pop princess Rihanna was spotted out and about on the streets of NYC last night. RiRi had a pretty busy evening. First, she attended Kevin Durant's birthday party at PhD Rooftop club at the Dream Downtown. Then, she headed over to 1 Oak where she closed out the night how she usually does it.

But its not all play for RiRi, who was a part of the national hacking scandal last week. She's also in town to put the final touches on the tentatively titled R8, her eighth studio album.  In between parties, we've has spotted her ducking in and out of several studio sessions.

Rihanna fans posted a pic of her from one of the parties she attended.  Apparently, RiRi snuck a costume change in. 

In new music....

Yes...Keyshia Cole was jailed for beating up a chick last week.  But she's letting go of the past...kinda.

On the latest track from her upcoming disc Point of No Return (October 7th) Keyshia picks up where her 2007 hit "Remember" left off. On "Remember (Part 2)", she's still dealing with a breakup and tons of emotions.

“Something don’t seem right though / Cause we argue all the time and we fuss and fight / It just don’t seem worth it, even though we have so much on the line,”

Sigh....Keyshia's hurt again. This is when she shines her brightest.

Hollywood legend Denzel Washington (who stars in the new film The Equalizer) and rock star legend Lenny Kravitz (who just released his new album Strut) have built a great friendship over the years. So much so, they often go on vacay with one another and come back with plenty of stories to share.

Last night, the two hit up “Live With David Letterman” and the two kept the laughs coming as they went back and forth with one another, cracking jokes. The guys talked about their recent boat trip together where Lenny forced The Equalizer star to watch his own movies. It seems Denzel only watches his movies once just so he’ll know what he’s talking about during promo tours.

Hip Hop mogul Dr. Dre landed the No.1 spot on FORBES 2014 Cash Kings list. No surprise there. After selling his Beats by Dre headphones to Apple for a cool $3 BILLION, along with his other many projects, it has earned the entrepreneur the highest annual total of any entertainer ever evaluated by Forbes. He certainly deserves the crown.

Although he’s not quite a billionaire yet, he’s steadily making his way there with pretax earnings of $620 million. Not only that, his total earnings beat out all 24 of his Hip Hop peers on this year’s Hip-Hop Cash Kings list. Boss!

Jay Z and Diddy tie at the No. 2 spot earning $60 million this year. This is the highest earnings in a year for Hov since 2010, aided by his Roc Nation empire, 68 concerts during FORBES scoring period, his D’Ussé cognac deal and his certified platinum album Magna Carta…Holy Grail (which sold 1 million copies before it was released due to an agreement with Samsung).

Diddy and his Diageo’s Ciroc deal earned him the bulk of his earnings but he also banked cash for other ventures like DeLeon tequila, Blue Flame marketing, Sean Jean clothing, and his new endeavor Revolt TV.
