As the divorce between Chris and Malaak Rock heats up, deets are emerging about their rocky marriage and messy split. Friends of the Top Five star spoke to Page Six, revealing why the funnyman decided to leave Malaak, and that she's been making it very difficult for him to see his daughters, Lola Simone, 12, and Zahra Savannah, 10.
"He lives for his children,” the source told Page Six.“They come first. When he was doing a publicity tour for ‘Top Five,’ he made it clear it had to be scheduled around being able to take his daughters to school and pick them up.”
Despite Chris' attempts to be a dutiful father, the source revealed that Malaak is attempting to file for sole custody of their two children and is using them as a pawn.
A second source shot down rumors that there was a third party involved in the split....namely his Top 5 co-star Rosario Dawson."There is no truth to that. The rumor is 100 percent untrue.”
While Chris has remained mum, outside of a statement from his lawyer, the source from his camp explained the reason for the split to Page Six, “Chris just wasn’t happy in the marriage anymore. There is no third party involved . . . Chris and his wife had previously separated and got back together, so there have been problems for some time.”
Unfortunately, situations like this seem to get worse before they get better. There's also the question of finances as Chris has an estimated fortune of $70 million and the prenup that he and Malaak signed in 1996 has expired. Hmm....Malaak could definitely demand a larger share of Chris' fortune if she were awarded sole custody of the kids. Does this all come down to money?
