Nearby the Panthers' Bank of America stadium hours ago Cam Newton's truck collided with a car on the road and it resulted a pretty scary scene.
News crews captured footage of the aftermath and Cam laid out on the ground. But in one pic, he's smiling while being attended to by officers, signaling he's doing OK.
According to CBS News:
A truck that Charlotte Mecklenburg police spokesman Robert Tufano said Newton was driving was overturned on the roadway with debris scattered all over the street. The roof of the truck was caved in. Another car that appeared to be involved in the crash had front end damage.
The police were investigating how the crash happened on a bridge that crosses busy I-277 in the shadow of Bank of America Stadium, where the Panthers play.
While the scene of the accident seemed to be a pretty scary scenario, the Panthers organization, as well as the police department, say there are no life threatening injuries. Reportedly, Cam asked NOT to be taken inside the ambulance. But he soon obliged.
Cam Newton is in fair condition and undergoing tests at Carolinas Medical Center and will remain there overnight for observation.
