Kerry Washington NABS Role In New Rom-Com ‘Is He The One’ + Queen Latifah GLOWS On ESSENCE's November 2014 Career Issue

Kerry Washington may be hitting the big screen soon in a new romantic comedy titled Is He The One. Also, Queen Latifah is the covergirl for ESSENCE’s November 2014 Career Issue. Get it all inside….

Kerry Washington (who can now add fashion designer to her resume) has been captivating “Scandal” fans for the new season of the hit ABC series. But soon, the fab actress will be taking her talents back to the silver screen for a new romantic comedy titled Is He The One.

The Emmy nominated actress (who last appeared in the Django Unchained film) is currently working on a deal to play a bride who is prepping to make her walk down the aisle. Problem is, we won’t find out who she is marrying until the very end, after she cycles through the three major relationships of her life.

The Best Man director Malcolm D. Lee will take the helm and the script is being written by DJ Richardson and Michelle Morgan (Girl Most Likely),  while the film will be produced by Todd Garner.

Daytime talk show host Queen Latifah got fab for the cover of ESSENCE magazine’s November 2014 career issue.

Over the years, Queen has accomplished many feats including being a talented rapper/singer, an actress, CEO of her own production company and now as a TV host with her own show. So how does she do it all? She said, "I'm one of those people who has to stretch, or I get bored—and I'm easily bored."

The 44-year-old entrepreneur has been busily working with BET to produce new original programming for the Centric channel through her Flavor Unit entertainment company which targets black women. Centric plans to bring back "Living Single" and play re-runs of “The Queen Latifah Show”

She plans on taking her talk show in a new exciting direction for its second season saying, "I want it to be a hit on my terms."

Queen is also gearing up for her return to the big screen. She has been tapped to portray 1920's Blues singer Bessie Smith in an upcoming HBO biopic. She dished on her new role saying,

"She influenced rock and roll, with an effect on everybody from Mick Jagger to Janis Joplin. She was the first Black performer to appear before an integrated audience. She chased away Ku Klux Klansmen when they tried to to set fire to a tent where she was performing."
