Monday night, “OITNB” star Samira Wiley (shown above in her yellow Christian Siriano gown) stepped out with girlfriend Lauren Morelli at the Chateau Marmont for a 2014 Emmys afterparty. The pair met on the set of “OITNB” where Lauren is a series writer and Samira is now a series regular. A few months ago, we hinted at the notion that the two were dating - and now it's official!
Their hookup story is pretty interesting since Lauren wrote an open letter a few months ago, revealing that she identified as “straight” until she began writing “OITNB.”
“I realized I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set. It wasn’t so much one thing, but the sum of many small details: how uncomfortable I felt around groups of lesbians or how I considered myself (shrug) a “not very sexual person.
When considered alone, these seemed like little quirks that made me me. I went through it all on set: I fell in love with a woman, and I watched my life play out on screen. And now, as we are gearing up for the release of season 2, it feels liberating and appropriate to live my life in front of you.'
Also, Lauren was married to a man back in the day - but now she’s going forward with something new. Live your life..
