While promoting her new Lifetime holiday film "Christmas In The City", Ashanti stopped by Hot 97 where she shared HER version of the breakup with Murder Inc and where she stands with Nelly. Watch the video inside....
On Dec. 7th at 8 p.m., singer Ashanti will appear in LIFETIME's holiday film "Christmas In The City". So she stopped by Hot 97's Morning Show this week to promote the new project.
During her chat, she addressed comments Irv Gotti made to The Breakfast Club where he said she was "disloyal" to Murder Inc and also shared that both she and Nelly were "hurt" by their split. Yes, we're shocked she even acknowledged they had something to "split" from. Here are the highlights:
On where she stands with Nelly and dealing with "hurt":
Nelly and I are in the space where I’m kinda like focusing on my career. He’s focusing on what he’s doing. There’s a lot things that happened this year. A lot of things went public more than other things have gone public, you know what I’m saying? And, um I kinda just have to do me. We’re in that space right now. There were things that were said and there were things that were done that probably shouldn’t of been said or done. You know, when people are around each other for a long time…there are feelings and there are things there…people get hurt. Men handle hurt differently than women handle hurt.....We’ve definitely scarred each other in a sense to say.
On loyalty and not having any "beef" with Irv:
There’s no beef, there’s definitely no beef. But....I feel like Irv kinda paints a picture of what happened with me and Murder Inc very one sided. I hear him talk about, ‘Oh she’s disloyal, and oh she didn’t throw up the M’s, oh she didn’t do this and that’ and I feel like it’s time to kinda set the record straight on what it really is….I’m a Libra, I’m a very loyal person. You know anybody with any sense of logic could see that I rode out. I rode to wheels fell off.....
Everyone was going through their own personal stress. But, again for someone to say that I’m disloyal, that’s not what I’m going for. And for you to think that I’m hurt. I’m not hurt because I got over it. This was how many years ago…. It definitely hurt then, now I’m ok. But that last time I saw Irv doing the interview, I’m like come on son don’t sit up here talking about I’m disloyal…like don’t do it. I’m going to always have love for Irv regardless of what happens, you know what I’m saying. We had some of the most amazing times of our lives.
