Bill Bellamy just lost his father, which has unfortunately caused some family drama! He is accusing his sister of secretly planning their father’s funeral on the same day as his father-in-law’s funeral. The messy deets inside….
They say death brings out the worst in family and, sadly, comedian Bill Bellamy is going through it with his own family following the death of his father and his wife’s father.
The 57-year-old comedian said he missed his father’s funeral because his sister planned an “unauthorized” memorial service for their father, William Bellamy Sr., who passed away on June 8th. Apparently the plans were made unbeknownst to Bill who was out of the country at the time.
Weeks earlier, Bill’s father-in-law, Bernard Baker Jr., died on May 17th.
The comedian said he was blindsided when he realized his sister, Karen, made solo plans to bury their father on the same day as his father-in-law’s memorial service (June 24th) in a different state. The father-in-law’s service was planned back in May, so Bill doesn’t understand why his sister made the plans she did.
In an attempt to attend the memorial service she planned, Bill filed to get a restraining order to force Karen to change the date, but he was denied. The courts claim there really is no legal standing for a judge to get involved in this sort of family dispute.
Bill spoke to TMZ about the unfortunate family drama:
"In the span of less than a month I lost both my father William Bellamy Senior and my father-in-law Bernard Baker Junior. These two wonderful men that have impacted my life and my family's lives in ways that are beyond words."
”My effort to stop an unauthorized memorial service for my father, which was planned without my knowledge, was not successful. I am devastated my family has to choose to miss one service for another, no one should ever have to be in this position. My father-in-law's memorial service was confirmed back in May when he passed.”
”There are no words to express how disappointed I am to not be a part of laying my father to rest but I look forward to celebrating my father's life and legacy with my wife, his grandchildren and our close friends in our own time.”
”Please pray for our families and give us the time to grieve and process these painful losses in private."
Hopefully, he can put together his own service for his father to pay his respects.
