Federal prosecutors want Kenneth Petty - Nicki Minaj’s husband - to do prison time instead of home confinement after failing to register as a sex offender. Find out how much time they’re recommending and more inside…

After striking a plea deal with the feds for failing to register as a sex offender in California, the realization that KennethPetty - Nicki Minaj’s husband - could end up in prison could happen sooner rather than later.

According to court documents, federal prosecutors have recommended a 15-month prison sentence, 5 years of supervised release and pay $55,000 in retribution for Mr. Petty.

Prosecutors reportedly don’t believe 6 months behind bars followed by a supervised release is enough punishment for Kenneth. The reason? Well, being holed up in a huge mansion in Calabasas with a pool and a music studio isn’t exactly “punishment” for breaking the law.

Prosecutors also suggested his relationship with the QUEEN raptress played a role in his failure to register.

The site reports:

The feds point out it's in a "gated affluent community" and includes a pool, Nicki’s music studio, and their beautifully landscaped backyard -- amenities not in line with their idea of crime and punishment. I

In fact, the U.S. Attorney's Office seems to think that lap of luxury is what led Petty down the wrong path. In the docs, prosecutors say Petty kept up with his sex offender registry paperwork for nearly 20 years ... until he met Nicki in 2019 and moved to Cali. As they describe it, "Defendant began dating his wife, quit his job, moved to Los Angeles, and adopted an affluent lifestyle."

Petty told the court he didn't know the specific requirements to register upon leaving NY state, but prosecutors say he was well aware of the rules after getting annual warnings for 2 decades. As we've reported ... Petty had to register as a sex offender after a 1995 attempted rape conviction in NY.

Mr. Petty agreed to plead guilty to one count of failing to register as a sex offender in California back in August 2021. In return, the feds said they would reportedly seek a sentence towards the low end of the guidelines. He was facing 10 years in prison with a lifetime of supervised release, which would have been the maximum sentence. The mandatory minimum sentence is 5 years of supervised release.

Mr. Petty moved to Cali with his rapper wife in July 2019, but according to court documents, he failed to register as a sex offender after the move.

On November 15, 2019, Kenneth Petty was pulled over by Beverly Hills PD for a traffic stop and that’s what started his legal troubles on the west coast. After they ran his name, cops realized he was a registered sex offender in New York, but he never registered in California, which he’s legally required to do. He was arrested and released on a $20,000 bond. At the time, he pleaded not guilty.

In 1995, Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl, Jennifer Hough, he attacked in NYC a year prior. According to reports, he served nearly 4 years in NY state prison and was required to register as a sex offender.

The judge will have the final say when Kenneth Petty’s sentencing goes down July 6th. How do you think the judge will rule?

Also, he and his wife are dealing with a lawsuit a security guard filed against them. He claims Nicki provoked Kenneth to punch him in the face, causing him to undergo jaw surges. Yes, several. Read about it HERE
