ABC's "Queens" has been dethroned after one season!

In the film world, Teyana Taylor and Laura Harrier have been added to the cast of the White Men Can’t Jump remake. All the entertainment deets inside…

No Season 2 for“QUEENS!”

ABC has dethroned "The Nasty B******" after giving the show the axe after its first season, which included 13 episodes.

The musical drama - helmed by “Scandal” writer Zahir McGhee - starred Eve, Brandy, Naturi Naughton and Nadine Velazquez as four members of a 90s girl group called The Nasty B*tches. It followed the hit Hop Hip group - estranged, out-of-touch and in their 40s -  as they reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had as the '90s group that made them legends in the hip-hop world.

During the first season, the women were able to squash decade-old beefs with one another, growing closer together before lauding their own record label. Brianna - played by Eve - was shot midseason and went off-screen to “recover,” a scene which was written in to accommodate Eve’s real-life pregnancy.

The series averaged almost 1.9 million total viewers along with a 0.5 demo rating. Out of the eight TV drama that aired on ABC this season, “Queens” ranked last in audience and was only better than “Promised Land” in the demo. According to TVLine, "QUEENS" was the least watched non-CW freshman drama this TV season.

By the way, Eve just experienced her first Mother's Day here in the U.S. and the U.K.:

Aww!

In film news...

Teyana Taylor (Coming 2 America), Laura Harrier (BlacKkKlansman) and Lance Reddick (John Wick) will join the cast of 20th Century Studios’ remake of White Men Can’t Jump. They’ll be joining previously announced cast members Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow. As we told you previously, folks are NOT here for Jack - who doesn't have any acting experience

No plot details have been released just yet.

Deadline reports:

The film will offer a new take on Ron Shelton’s 1992 sports comedy, starring Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes and Rosie Perez, which saw Black and white basketball hustlers join forces to double their chances of winning money on the street courts and in a basketball tournament. Harlow is stepping into the role originated by Harrelson, with Walls taking on Snipes’, and Reddick playing Benji Allen, the father of Walls’ character Kamal. Benji is living with MS and has been Kamal’s coach and support system since a very young age.

Veteran music video director Calmatic, who helmed the upcoming House Party remake for New Line, is mounting the reboot. Kenya Barris wrote the script with Doug Hall and is producing via his Khalabo Ink Society banner. Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil and Noah Weinstein are exec producing through their Mortal Media banner, alongside Doug Hall and E. Brian Dobbins.

Previously, Kenya Barris said the film isn't exactly remake of the original film. It’s moreso an inspiration for the new basketball comedy they're trying to create.

As of now, the character descriptions for Teyana and Laura have not been released. We’ll keep you posted on a release date when it’s available.

The original cast of White Men Can't Jump - Wesley Snipes, Rosie Perez and Woody Harrelson - celebrated the film's 30th anniversary during the 94th Academy Awards.
