Dave Chappelle was attacked on stage last night by an audience member with a weapon, and now he's speaking out about the insane situation.  Everything inside!

Lordt!  We surely hope this isn't a trend now.

While Dave Chappelle was on stage during his Netflix Is A Joke Festival's "Dave Chappelle & Friends" show last night at the Hollywood Bowl, someone from the audience ran on stage to attack him.

It was all caught on camera phone video, despite it being a "phone-free experience", and the audience full of celebs and thousands of fans sounded shocked and confused by what was going down.

It all started when Dave took the stage to introduce his friends like Mos Def, and then ish started going awry.  Some reports state the attacker had a gun, while others state he had a knife.  Now, based on newly released images from LAPD, we know it was BOTH!  And it's unclear how he got this through metal detectors:

As soon as security swooped in and took dude down, Chris Rock came from backstage and took the mic saying, "Was that Will Smith?!"  Oop!

Check it:

According to reports, the attacker is a 140lb, 5ft 11, 23-year-old male named Isaiah Lee.  He was arrested by LAPD and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Apparently, he was also beat down by security (and maybe Dave himself and Jamie Foxx) backstage, so he was taken away on a stretcher as he was arrested:

Sheesh.

While it remains unconfirmed what Lee's motives were, Dave continued joking afterwards saying: 'It was a trans man', referencing his beef with LGBTQ community after last year's Sticks & Stones comedy special where many felt his jokes were an insult to the community as a whole. We're sure that little quip won't sit well either.

Jamie Foxx ended up on stage cracking jokes with him afterwards too.

Foxx said: 'I thought that was part of the show, I didn't know what the f***...'

Chappelle said: 'I grabbed the back of that n**** head. His hair was spongy. Absorbent.'

Foxx added: 'Listen, I just want to say, this man is an absolute genius. We've got to make sure we protect him at all times.

'For every comedian who comes out here, this means everything. You're a genius. You're a legend, I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and we're not going to let nothing happen to you.'

Chappelle said: 'I've been doing this for 35 years. I just stomped a n**** backstage. I've always wanted to do that.'

Dave's spokesperson issued a statement today on his behalf saying:

'Dave Chappelle celebrated four nights of comedy and music, setting record-breaking sales for a comedian at the Hollywood Bowl... he refuses to allow last night's incident to overshadow the magic of this historic moment,' a spokesperson said.

'As unfortunate and unsettling as the incident was, Chappelle went on with the show.'

The chaos of the night doesn't end there.  TMZ reports this Isaiah person made a rap song about Dave Chappelle recently and put it on Soundcloud.  Gotta beware of those Soundcloud rappers.  His brother also told Rolling Stone that he has mental health problems and allegedly has some connection to the trans community, but it's not clear what that is.

Stay safe out there, y'all!
