Nominee Beyonce delivered a beautiful Oscars performance with BlueIvy where the mother-daughter duo paid tribute to Compton natives and tennis greats Venus and SerenaWilliams. Watch Bey & Blue’s Compton performance inside…
After it was announced Beyonce was performing at this year’s Oscars, there was talk that the Queen was taking extreme measures to keep her performance deets under wraps. And the secrecy was worth it.
Our fave was the opening act.
Tennis superstars Venus and SerenaWilliams - subjects in the Oscar nominated film King Richard - introduced Beyonce before she came across the screen virtually from the Williams sisters’ hometown of Compton - the place they started playing tennis. Mrs. Carter performed “Be Alive,” which is a track on the King Richard soundtrack that is nominated for Best Song.
For the special performance, Bey’s eldest daughter, BlueIvy, joined her to pay tribute to the tennis GOATS. Everyone dressed in tennis ball green, Bey, Blue, the background singers, musicians and dancers (some rocking the Williams Sisters' braids & beads) delivered “Be Alive” for the first time ever. Get into it below:
”Be Alive” is nominated for Best Song and it’s Queen Bey’s first Oscar nomination. Fingers crossed she wins!
