Cardi B is no stranger to social media drama.
What started as a question to her fans turned into a Twitter dragging which then morphed into giving back to charity.
It’s no secret people are struggling to make ends meet amid the Coronavirus pandemic, which has shut down businesses and wiped out employment for millions of Americans. So, when Cardi B hopped on Twitter Sunday night to ask her fans if she should purchase a $88,000 purse, it sent social media into a frenzy.
“Should I spend 88K for this damn purse? Omggg it’s tempting,” the Grammy Award winning rapper tweeted.
Fans were quick to fire shots at Cardi for being insensitive during a pandemic where many can’t put food on the table:

Some Twitter users tweeted she should donate that money to charity to help those in need.
On the flip side, some fans came to her defense with tweets that said she can spend her money how she pleases. Cardi also shared tweets about how much she has donated to charity in the past. Swipe through the reactions and Cardi’s responses below:
"I already donated 2 million dollars this year and I’m doing something very special in a another country that will be done with next year," she tweeted. "What have you donated?"
After some back and forth with fans, the “WAP” rapper apologized and then issued a challenge to her followers.
"Ok guys I apologize. There you happy?!" she wrote. "I don’t see ya askin trump for a apology when he out here missing COVID meetings to play golf."
The 28-year-old entertainer asked her followers to send receipts of their donations to charities and once it’s sent in, she will donate and match whatever they donated.
“Any charity or foundation drop your receipts under the comment I will match what you donated and match your donation to that same charity or foundation,” she tweeted. “Lets match energy.”
