From Broadway To Netflix! Kerry Washington Will Star & Produce 'American Son' Adaptation + Check Out Michael B. Jordan's New Action Anime Series, 'gen:LOCK'

Kerry Washington is bringing her bomb Broadway production, "American Son," to Netflix. Get the deets, plus check out Michael B. Jordan's new action anime series inside...

Bronx beauty Kerry Washigntonhas been lighting up Broadway with her critically acclaimed play, American Son during it's limited run that's now comign to an end. It's one of those plays that'll make a grown man cry because it's THAT emotional. And it's even been generating Tony Award buzz.

The show is set to wrap up this Sunday, but luckily for those who couldn't travel to NYC to see it for themselves, they can start thankine the Netflix gods.

The streaming service is adapting the hit 2018 play with the two-time Golden Globe nominated actress reprising her role. She's also producing. Steven Pasquale (The Good Wife), Jeremy Jordan (Supergirl), and Eugene Lee (A Soldier’s Play) are also reprising their roles from the current Broadway production. Kenny Leon will return to direct and produce.

 

 

Last night, the "Scandal" star appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" to spill the tea. During the interview, she said the play was the hardest thing she has ever done, so it's hard to talk about.

The "Confirmation" star explains how the play takes place inside of a Miami police station that tells the real-time story about a recently separated couple (black mom, white dad) who become frantic when they realize they can't find their 18-year-old son. Kerry's character tries to cope with her son's disappearance when his car turns up int he system during a traffic stop.

She described the adaptation as a "movie-play hybrid" and she wanted to do the project to continue the conversation the play generated.

In the anime world...

Michael B. Jordan revealed he's an anime freak and now, he's starring in a new anime series. He's lending his voice as the lead character in the upcoming series from Rooster Teeth titled, "gen:LOCK."

Shadow & Act reports:

Jordan portrays Julian Chase in, gen:LOCK. A description reads: Fifty years in the future, an oppressive authoritarian force threatens to conquer the world. A daring team is recruited to pilot a new form of weaponized neuroscience that powers devastating mecha, but they must be willing to sacrifice everything to save the world.

Dakota Fanning, Maisie Williams, Asia Kate Dillon, Golshifteh Farahani and David Tennant also voice characters.

gen:LOCK is set to premiere January 26 on Rooster Teeth, which is available on iOS, Android, Xbox One, Apple TV, and at RoosterTeeth.con. Memberships starting at $4.99 a month.
