There's drama being stirred up over Travis Scott's Super Bowl Halftime performance. Find out how Colin Kaepernick's name got thrown into the mix inside...
Earlier today, it was reported that Travis Scott "consulted with" former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick (who has been blackballed from the NFL for his silent protest) about his Super Bowl 53 halftime performance before agreeing to do the performance. Not only did they talk about it, but it was also reported that Colin even approved of the performance. Hmm...
Since the ASTROWORLD rapper and the NFL had agreed to donate $500,000 to a social justice organization, Colin was cool with Travis performing for the Super Bowl, this according to media reports.
But, that's the furthest from the truth. Yes, they had a conversation, but apparently, Colin never approved of Travis participating for the halftime performance with Maroon 5. By the way, rapper Big Boi has also been tapped to perform during the halftime show at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Colin's girlfriend/HOT 97 personality Nessa and Power 105's Ebro Darden quickly took to Twitter for some damage control, confirming Colin never approved of Travis' performance (and Colin retweeted):
If you’re with them, then you are definitely not with us. pic.twitter.com/cILfbDRbwY

LET FOLKS KNOW!
TMZ released an update about Travis and Colin's conversation with details, allegedly from both camps. The site reports:
Sources connected to Travis acknowledge, when TMZ broke the story on December 20 that Travis would perform at the Super Bowl, he had indeed made that decision. The contract, however, had not been signed.
Our Travis sources say he was "surprised" at the blowback and wanted to be "sensitive to the black community," and that's when he started thinking of some sort of donation the NFL might make. We're told Travis' people started negotiating a donation amount with the NFL and Travis was "willing to walk" if he didn't get what he wanted.
Before the contract was signed, sources tell us Travis reached out to Colin ... presumably to get him on board but not to ask for permission. We're told Colin was not supportive of Travis performing at the Super Bowl, and the 2 men disagreed. Multiple sources characterize the conversation as "cordial and not hostile."
The NFL contract, we're told, was only signed a few days ago ... AFTER the conversation between Colin and Travis. That contract includes a $500,000 donation to Van Jones' charity, Dream Corps.
One final thing ... a Travis source underscored, although he respects Colin, "Colin doesn't tell Travis what he can and can't do. That's Travis' decision."
That's fine, but maybe Travis' people shouldn't feed to media that he got his approval to make himself sound better.
Colin also retweeted a post about Van Jones' charity, Dream Corps, receiving monetary donations to stop protesting:
$500K to Dream Corps for Travis Scott to strike a deal and walk past the Cardi B/Rihanna/others protest line.
In 2016, The NFL also committed cash to Dream Corps in the Players Coalition deal brokered by Malcolm Jenkins.

Atlanta producer Jermaine Dupri is participating in the Super Bowl 53 festivities. He's in charge of planning the music for "Super Bowl LIVE," presented by Verizon, which will include performances by Goodie Mob and Ying Yang Twins.
The fan festival is happening in Centennial Olympic Park from Jan. 26th to Feb. 2nd, excluding Jan. 29th & 30th. The event will be free and open to the public. The So So Def honcho isn't here for the backlash either. Peep the video of him defending his involvement above.
Super Bowl 53 goes down February 3rd. Which teams (that are still in the running) would you like to see battle it out for the Lombardi trophy?
