What was said?! Nicki Minaj proclaims to be the new age Harriet Tubman, and gets a response from Spotify after she dragged them to the big mad heavens.
It's been a DAY for Onika Maraj chile. Her official numbers came in and she's number 2 on the Billboard charts. Y'all know the self proclaimed Queen wasn't having it so she aired out the industry's well known scammer & sexist ways to explain why her numbers were manipulated against her. Travis Scott, Kylie Jenner, and even baby Stormi got caught in her tornado-o-drama, and so did Spotify.
After blasting the music platform for allegedly blocking her album from being sold on Spotify for the first 12 hours, all because she played her album first on her Apple Music radio show, Spotify is chiming in. Nicki said:
“Spotify had to teach me a lesson but rewarded the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest; inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most.”
A representative for Spotify later put the following statement:
Spotify supported Nicki Minaj with a Times Square billboard, a host of the largest playlists, New Music Friday and the new music release shelf,” the rep said. “Her song ‘Bed’ actually saw an increase based on the promotions put behind the campaign. The company continues to be big fans of Nicki.
They didn't say they didn't blackball her for a few hours.
Still, Nicki says she's airing out folks even more on Queen Radio come Tuesday.
Then, there's this. Chick believes by airing out the injustices of the music industry, she's doing the work of our ancestors, namely abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
Oh.
Folks weren't feeling the comparison, and she was trending because of it.
