Solange Knowles and her envious natural curls are being featured in the upcoming annual Music Issue of V magazine.  Check out her pretty pics inside and what she had to say about her upcomign sexy music, plus news on Lil Wayne's upcoming memoir....

Solange has been putting her unique looks to good use--first as the Rimmel spokeswoman, then Carol's Daughter, now signing to Next Models.  And the 25-year-old singer is being featured as a part of V's Fearless Females coverage in the upcoming issue.  She rocked a white Jil Sander blouse and green Bess NYC by Doug Abraham jacket.

When asked about why she has chosen to release her music on her own, versus going with a major label, she says:

I'm lucky enough to have been in this business for so long that I know how it works.  It's not rocket science.

Solange, who is featured alongside fellow Carol's Daughter spokeswoman Cassie, also revealed that her upcoming album will be very sexually charged.  Here's some highlights:

On her new album:
There are a lot of songs about sex. It’s the kind of record you put on when your man is coming over, when you’re with your girls. There are songs that make you wanna dance because we were kind of partying our way through the record, but it’s very chill. My references for the record were all Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, not just their typical Janet and Prince stuff, but SOS Band and their b-sides with Chaka Khan. At first the songs were really dark because I had a premonition before the record that I was going to die. I was having panic attacks and wiling out. [But] I don’t need anyone telling me ‘this isn’t cool enough’ or anyone from the opposite end saying ‘this seems kind of weird.’

On maintaining her independence by releasing her music herself:

“I don’t need anyone telling me ‘this isn’t cool enough’ or anyone from the opposite end saying ‘this seems kind of weird.’ I’m lucky enough to have been in this business for so long that I know how it works. It’s not that hard. It’s not rocket science.”

On her new domestic role:
Now being in a stable situation, sometimes that feels f**ked up within itself. I’ve been on the road my entire life since I was 13, even when I had my son he came on the road with me. Now that he’s in school where there is a real structure, we have to be home during those times. Being that grounded feels really foreign to me.

I wonder if her long time boyfriend Alan has anything to do with that new album direction.

And if you ever wanted to know what was going through Lil Wayne's mind while he was in lockup this last go-round, he's letting you know in his upcoming memoir.

Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group, announced today that it will publish GONE TILL NOVEMBER, a book by Lil Wayne, on November 28, 2012. The fine literary work wil be based on diaries he kept during his eight months on Rikers Island.  And it's the first opprutunity for fans to get inside the unique and enigmatic mind of one of the biggest names in hip hop.

GCP's Executive Editor Ben Greenberg explained today:

“We are thrilled to be publishing Wayne’s prison memoir. He kept detailed journals of his inner and outer life while he was on Rikers Island, and they certainly tell a story. They are revealing.”

The memoir will showcase his journals he kept while incarcerated in the form of an internal monologue, detailing his thoughts and feelings, the strange people he met, his plans, his family, and his children.  Will you be copping this?
