Black girl realness took over at the 2017 Vulture Festival held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in L.A. Kerry Washington and the “Scandal” cast was on hand to chat about the final season before it wraps up.

The hot mom rolled up on the scene in an ALTUZARRA frock straight from the SS18 RTW runway, black Christian Louboutins sandals, a Movado watch (since she’s an ambassador of the brand) and Sara Weinstock jewelry.

On the panel, the media tried their hardest to get the 40-year-old star and her castmates to spill some deets on the final season, but they weren’t budging. However, Kerry did get into why “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes doesn’t like the word “diversity.”

“Shonda does not love the word ‘diversity’,” Kerry explained.“She talks about replacing it with ‘normalizing.’ You look on this stage and what this cast is made of — a ton of people who society would say belong to a minority or disenfranchised groups whether it’s because of age, sexual orientation, race or gender. There’s two straight white guys on this stage — and that community feels disenfranchised right now.”

She continued:

“When you have a lot of people who identify as ‘other’ put together in situations, you’re avoiding the idea of being ‘the only one in the room’. When you’re the only ‘other’ in the room — you don’t get to enter conversations on how that looks like because your job as the only ‘other’ in the room is to conform. But when you normalize the population you get to explore what difference means and how it feels in the world because ‘other’ becomes normal.”

We agree.

On the panel, Issa talked about how the show reflects her own life. "It was more focusing on highlighting pieces of my life that I felt were relevant, and my life happens to be very black," she said. And we love her for it. It's refreshing to see OUR lives on the small screen weekly.

On another panel...

Hollywood director titans Ava DuVernay and Ryan Coogler dropped gems on filmmaking, their huge projects (A Wrinkle In Time& Black Panther) in the works and more.
