Apparently, our fave Netflix show “Chewing Gum” hasn’t been canceled and a third season will be on the horizon. We just don’t know when. Get details on the mix up, plus find out how Jesse Williams and Common are expanding their brands in the digital world inside…
Back in August, it was announced the Netflix series “Chewing Gum” had been canceled after two seasons. At the time, a rep for show creator and star Michaela Coel confirmed the news in a statement saying:
“Chewing Gum is a vibrant, hilarious, and unique comedy of which we are incredibly proud. Though there currently aren’t any plans for a 3rd series, we hope to work with the hugely talented Michaela Coel again soon.”
Well, that seems not to be the case. At least, according to Michaela Coel.
The “Chewing Gum” star took to Twitter to reveal she never told anyone that she wasn’t creating a third season and said she found out about the cancellation of the show online just like us.
Okay SO: I never spoke to anyone, (no channel no journalist) about there not being a season 3, I learned the news the same guys you did, same shock! I was offered other opportunities way before I was offered a 3rd season, I took them because I don't like being unemployed

A fan reached out to Michaela and asked if a third season is coming and she said yes. However, it’s unclear when they’ll all be able to work on it as she has taken up other offers and so has her castmates.

Actor Jesse Williams is getting his feet wet in the tech world. The “Grey’s Anatomy” star just launched his first mobile game called BLeBRiTY.
It’s like charades on epic levels of blackness. BLeBRiTY dives headlong into black pop culture trivia. With incredibly creative categories spanning generations and interests, players try to guess their card based on the hilarious clues being shouted at them.
There are over 30 curated categories filled with hilariously creative cultural touch points ranging from, '80s Babies' and 'Things Bougie Black Folks Love', to ‘HBCUs', ‘Momma Phrases' to 'Celebrities Only Black Folks Know.’
“We decided to stop waiting and start building,”Jesse said via press release. “By creating the experiences we like, we’ve tapped into our own cultural zeitgeist, which is so often the source material for pop culture at large. BLeBRiTY is an uproariously funny, creative event where everyone can play, learn and laugh their asses off! We don’t wait to be included anymore, we build and include ourselves.”
This sounds like the perfect game for the Holidays. Y'all know games like this break up families and friendships too.
Another YBFer dipping in the tech world...
Common is taking his storytelling skills from songs to digital comics.
According to Deadline, the Chi-town rapper is teaming up with digital comics publisher LINE Webtoon to portray the title character in digital comic book series titled, “Caster.” Yep, he's scoring the series.
The digital comic revolves around “a globe-trotting antiquities dealer whose search for his next payday leads him into a world of international espionage.”
“It’s different than Indiana Jones,” Common said about the new series. “What drew me to him — it’s something about his taste and (his knowledge of) antiquities. It’s very unique.”
“Caster” is set to be released next year. We’re interested in seeing how Common brings this digital character alive.
