When legends pass on, sometimes you see their influence more than ever. Celebs pay tribute to "Benson" and "Soap" star Robert Guillaume after news of his passing yesterday. His mark on the world has definitely been felt.

Robert Guillaume passed away yesterday at the age of 89.  His wife,Donna Guillaume, revealed that he had battled prostate cancer in recent years.  She tells CNN:

"He kinda went the way everyone wishes they could, surrounded by love and in his sleep," Guillaume said.

If you were a 70's or 80's baby, you probably watched him on "Benson" or "Soap" every week. His role was so fierce, he became the first Black actor to win Emmys for Supporting Actor in "Soap" & Lead Actor in "Benson" for playing the same role.

He also was the voice of Refiki in Disney's The Lion King, The Lion King 2, and the Lion King video games and spinoffs, and appeared with a fierce presence in plenty of films (Lean On Me) and shows ("Sports Night," "A Different World") alongside Will Smith and more.

Off screen, he made waves in the charitable sector being one of the first actors to appear at AIDS benefits.  And as a father of four, his wife says he was everything:

"He was a good father and a good husband. He was a great, great person," she said.
Celebs revealed how much of an impact Robert had on them and their careers as they paid tribute to the Award winning actor last night:
