Solange is about to be Queen of the Soul Train Awards! Nomination news inside, plus Toni Braxton is for real about to put Living Legend in front of her name....
Queen Solo just racked up 7 Soul Train Award nominations, more than anyone else nominated!
The younger (well, middle now) Knowles sister is getting ALL the accolades for her Seat At The Table masterpiece. Her nominations include Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and the highly coveted Video of the Year and Song of the Year for her single “Cranes in the Sky.”
Bruno Mars comes in a close second with six total nominations, including two nominations for Song of the Year for his hit single “That’s What I Like,” and Album/Mixtape of the Year for “24K Magic.”
DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller also will be battling it out with multiple nominations including Video of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Collaboration. Our new R&B faves Khalid and SZA are also multi-nominees across categories including Best New Artist, Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Best Collaboration and the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award. Yesss!
Tamar Braxton's title for her sis is literally about to come to life. Toni Braxton Living Legend - who has sold over 67 million records, including 41 million albums, worldwide - is set to receive the coveted Don Cornelius Legend Award. We just want to know who's going to perform that tribute. And if her boo Birdman will be right by her side...
SWV is also set to to cop a major award. The trio - Coko, LeLee & Taj - will receive the third annual Lady of Soul Award as one of the most successful R&B groups of the 1990s. The "Weak" and "Right Here/Human Nature" singers have sold more than 25 million records, making them one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Well deserved!
It all goes down November 5th at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Then the BET Presents: 2017 Soul Train Awards will air on BET and BET HER on November 26th, 2017 at 8PM ET.
Congrats to the nominees!
