A fifth season of "Being Mary Jane" was already looking grim, but now BET has put the nail in the cancelled coffin. Issa wrap! Deets inside...
After last month's season finale, it looks like Mary Jane and all her self-created struggles are coming to an end. The network decided not to renew for another season, but they're not leaving fans high and dry.
Just like the show started in 2013, they're serving up a 2-hour mini movie to cap off the four-season hit show.
Gabrielle Union has already signed up for the finale movie, but no other names are confirmed (Michael Ealy better get his ass to that signing table -- we need a Mary Jane & Justin wedding after everything we've been through!)
No word on when it will air, but the network promises the series will go out with a bang:
“Being Mary Jane has been a landmark series not only for BET, but for African American women around the world who saw themselves in Mary Jane, her family, friends and coworkers. From the captivating storytelling, to the richly complex characters, to the powerful issues tackled on the series, we remain immensely proud,” said Connie Orlando, EVP and Head of Programming, BET Networks.
“We are grateful to the cast and creators of Being Mary Jane, who have worked tirelessly to bring this world to vivid life over the past 4 seasons. We also thank the many loyal viewers whose hearts and minds were captured every week, and kept Mary Jane trending worldwide. We look forward to closing out Mary Jane’s journey with a series finale that is sure to blow fans away!”
What do you think will happen? Will MJ's British ex return? Will she actually conceive after that implementation and then we have a J.Lo"The Back-Up Plan" situation? Will Justin snatch that ring back (because we all know self-sabotoging Mary Jane will do soemthing else stupid)? Will Niecy finally get out of her basic tendencies for good? Will Mary Jane's parents get back together? Will Kara get the proposal she's been waiting on (instead of jewelry)?
