With so much talk about protesting the national anthem, Nick Cannon offers up the perfect response why black people SHOULDN’T stand for the anthem. It has nothing to do with disrespecting our armed forces.

In his “Stand For What?” clip, he uses spoken word to explain why he’s not standing for the national anthem and drops wisdom on the origin of the nation’s song.

"Stand for what? The beginning of Slavery in 1619 Or the end of those Black Marines of 1814? That's really what the lyrics are about," he says. "They may have taken the word 'slave' out, but they forget to remove the slave connotations from their brains and they mouth."

The piece includes footage of him on the frontline, protesting with locals in St. Louis after a white cop was acquitted for killing a black man. It also showed clips of black men being killed by police, the violent protests in Charlottesville and more. Throughout the clip, he made it crystal clear he’s not “standing for sh*t.”
