A classic is about to get a sequel 30 years after the original.
Coming To America will get a sequel treatment, three decades after it hit theaters, at least, that’s what THR is reporting. Looks like we’re going to get a glimpse into Prince Hakeem’s life after leaving his country of Zamunda for America and marrying his American princess, Lisa McDowell. Or, the writers could have something else up their sleeve.
Now, don’t go rolling your eyes just yet.
Eddie Murphy is reportedly attached to project, although, it’s unclear if he will star in the upcoming sequel “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris will be rewriting the script and Jonathan Levine will helm the project. Sounds promising.
Last year, Vanessa Bell Calloway got decked out in her Coming To America Princess Imani’s outfit for a photoshoot and she totally nailed it. Also, Vanessa and her co-star Shari Headley (who played Lisa) got in their costumes to celebrate Halloween on the “Steve Harvey Show” last year.

The “Insecure” star hit the stage to speak during the 34th Annual Walter Kaitz Foundation Fundraising Dinner held at the Marriot Marquis Times Square. Chick stunned in a velvet suit and heels, rocking alice + Olivia, House of Chapple, and Ted Baker.
The Kaitz Dinner raises funds to support several non-profit partner organizations and their commitment to building opportunities for minority communities.
Diddy was tapped to make the opening speech where he touched on the importance diversity in television to help inspire the next generation."I had the honor of making the opening speech at the Kaitz Foundation Dinner for cable diversity week," he said. "We're at a interesting time where there's a spotlight on race around the world. It's effecting millions of kids who feel they don't have a position or a voice because of the lack of diversity in television and film. @RevoltTV is giving a voice to people who don't have a voice. The message we're giving out is one of positivity and hope! @RevoltTV wants to compete just like any other network! Let's challenge ourselves to do more to keep the balance!!"
