EMMY nominees Regina King, Viola Davis and Leslie Jones wowed on the red carpet at the 2017 Primetime EMMY Awards. Get into their looks, plus everyone else who hit the carpet inside...
The Primetime EMMY Awards are getting more and more melanated as the years go by. This year, there was plenty of melanin beauties taking over the red carpet at the 69th annual Primetime EMMY Awards inside the Microsoft Theater in L.A.
“American Crime” star Regina King wowed when she rolled up on the carpet in a new designer. The YBF actress kept it fierce in cut-out back Galia Lahav dress. Unfortunately, Regina didn’t win her third EMMY tonight and her show “American Crime” was canceled after the third season.
However, the 46-year-old entertainer will go behind-the-scenes and direct an upcoming episode of “This Is Us” when season 2 premieres. She couldn’t give up too many details, but she did say fans will get to meet the “Big 3” in a decade we’ve never seen before.
This color! Her skin!
“How To Get Away With Murder” actress Viola Davis served up #BlackGirlMagic realness in a tangerine gown by Zac Posen. She was in the running for her second EMMY win after being nominated three times. Sucks she didn’t get the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award.
Newbie alert! Leslie Jones, who stunned in a custom Christian Siriano gown, made her debut at the EMMY awards as she was nominated for her very first award. This bawdy tho. #GymLife is paying off, Leslie!
Come through queen! “Orange Is The New Black” star Uzo Aduba, who was in the running for her third EMMY, sparkled on the carpet in a Sally La Pointe gown topped with her luscious afro.
“black-ish” starlet Yara Shahidi, who’s gearing up to star in her own show “Grown-ish,” straight killed this embellished Prada gown. Custom head to toe, even the shoes.
Yara's on-screen sister Marsai Martin got some help with her off-the-shoulder Rubin Singer dress by her real-life dad on the carpet.
Feather fun!
"Big Little Lies" star Zoe Kravitz wanted to show off her quirky side, so she slipped on this multicolored Dior original with Tiffany & Co. jewels.
YAS!! "Power" Anika Noni Rose pulled off the perfect cleavage in a deep plunging Thai Nguyen Atelier gown. She is a princess after all.
Do it then, Susan Kelechi Watson. "This Is Us" returns for season 2 on Tuesday, September 26th at 9/8c on NBC.
"Westworld" star and EMMY nominee Thandie Newton looked like a princess in a custom strapless Jason Wu gown.
Beyond The Lights actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw bossed up in a Hugo Boss dress.
"13 Reasons Why" and "Empire star" Ajiona Alexus worked the carpet in a white bustier and pantsuit with a train.
"Parks & Recreation" actress Rashida Jones strutted her stuff in a purple J. Mendel gown that she accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz. jewelry.
Comedienne and former EMMY winner Wanda Sykes made her way to the ceremony after hiting up the pre-EMMY scene.
As for the men on the carpet...
"This Is Us" actor Ron Cephas Jones, who was in the running for the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Award, got dapper in a black and white suit.
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” star Tituss Burgess had his moment on the carpet before heading inside. He was up for the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series award.
"Atlanta" star Brian Tyree Henry came out to show support to his homie Donald Glover, who ended up brining home two EMMYs.
Hmm....Deon Cole...
"black-ish" cutie Miles Brown was super adorable posing it up.
Come on, young king! "Stranger Things" cutie Caleb McLaughlin flexed his model skills on the carpet.
Be sure to check out Issa Rae, The Wades, Sterling K. Brown & Ryan, Tracee Ellis Ross & Tessa Thompson and Anthony Anderson & wife on the red carpet! Oh, Cam'Ron was there too.
