There's some haters in the building...
Watch how history making winner Sterling K. Brown got shaded by The Emmys during his black-as-ever acceptance speech inside.
"This Is Us" star Sterling K. Brown won another Emmy tonight, this time for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. It was another history making victory, as he is the first black actor in 19 years to win in that category, following Andre Braugher for “Homicide: Life on the Streets” in 1998, James Earl Jones for “Gabriel’s Fire” in 1991, and Bill Cosby for “I Spy” between 1966 and 1968.
As epic as his acceptance speech was, though, the hating ass powers-that-be at the Emmys weren't really trying to hear it.
Sterling was keeping it super black. He thanked the best white tv family a black man could have, saluted his tv wife Susan Kelechi Watson for their "Martin & Gina" type black love, and seemingly quoted Katt Williams to start things off.
When those hating ass powers-that-be started playing him off the stage (all soon too), he said absolutely not, and pointed out that the music was louder than normal too.
He kept talking, an they shut off his mic AND the lights chile.
By the way, this is AFTER Nicole Kidman had just given the longest acceptance speech in life in the same category for actresses, and not nan a chord of music was played to get her off that stage. NOT NAN.
Basically.
Keep your head up, Sterling. You're everything to us.
And so was your wife/co-star's reaction to your win.
Congrats!
