We’ve noticed the new school of rap definitely has its own style and it’s almost a complete 360 of what us old heads remember rappers to look like. These days, nothing is off limits.
Rappers Kodak Black, Lil Uzi Vert, Quavo and Lil Yachty took their fashion choices to new heights when they hit the blue carpet for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards held at The Forum.
Normally, it’s the ladies hitting the carpet with head turning looks, but these guys had everyone on notice for better or for worse:
We see Kodak brought a wad of cash as his plus 1. Another reason he should be cancelled?
Lil Uzi Vert kept his special cigarette close by.
Lil Yachty served up grade school realness.
And Quavo was on his rockstar ish.
“Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” newbie Keyshia Cole took time off from the studio to stunt at the awards show. The R&B songstress worked a black see-through Willfredo Gerardo dress with a train. She recently released a new ballad titled "Uncapable" (from her upcoming 11:11 Reset album) that you can listen to HERE.
Revenge body on 1,000!
“America’s Got Talent” judge Mel B may be going through a nasty divorce right now, but you can’t tell it. The former Spice Girl pushed through on the blue carpet in funky Discount Universe midi dress that she paired with red pumps.
Werk!
Mel B and Keyshia linked up with Mel's "America's Got Talent" co-judge Heidi Klum.
Kendrick Lamar leaded the pack with eight nominations and now he’s leading the pack with actual wins. The west coast rapper, rocking a Prada suit, scooped up six awards, including Video of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video and Best Direction for his “Humble” visuals. He also opened the show with a medley of his hits.
On the carpet, Kendrick ran into DJ Khaled and his adorable son Asahd Khaled. Baby Asahd kept it stylish in a tailored Gucci suit. That baby loves Gucci.
The Miami producer also brought his fiancée Nicole Tuck along for the awards show festivities.
Girls Trip star/comedienne Tiffany Haddish's bodlooked SMOKING hot in this sparkly mini dress. Slay then, Tiffany.
Rapper/actress Lil Mama looked whimsical in a flowy red Michael Costello gown accessorized with yellow canary diamonds from Jason of Beverly Hills. Adding an extra (and interesting) element to her ensemble, the When Love Kills actress opted out of carrying a clutch and toted a red bird cage with a live bird inside.
And she let the bird free on the carpet:
We guess...
Be sure to check out Lil Mama flex her acting chops in the upcoming TV film, When Love Kills, when it premieres TONIGHT at 9/8c on TVOne.
One night, two looks.
We’re going to just give “black-ish” star Yara Shahidi our fashion stamp of approval because she never gets it wrong for a carpet event. The YBF actress, who’s gearing up for the release of her spin-off show “Grown-ish,” first made her way on the carpet rockin gold on-shouldered Zimmermann wrap dress.
Those sandals were on POINT.
The 17-year-old actress switched up her look and stepped back out on the carpet in strapless Rodarte gown from the Fall Winter 2017 collection.
Love her.
Christina Milian pushed through with ALL bawdy. She served up some thigh action in a Dennis Basso FW 2017 dress. We hear she's been working in the studio on new music.
Rapper Young M.A. kept it simple and clean in black and white.
DC Young Fly, one of the new hosts of the upcoming "TRL" reboot, posed it up on the carpet.
OK! We see you Jasmine Sanders. The model stuck several poses in a fringe, cut-out Moschino outfit while her boyfriend Terrence J hosted the pre-show.
