It’s official!
Yara Shahidi’s “black-ish” spinoff is officially titled “Grown-ish.” No more “College-ish.”
The spinoff will follow Yara’s character, Zoey Johnson, enter the University of Southern California for college. Outside of college life, the show will also touch on a range of topics and situations a young person faces as they figure out what being an adult is all about while still growing into adulthood.
We already told you Trevor Jackson will be joining Yara on the series. Chris Parnell and Emily Arlook have also joined the cast.
Creator Kenya Barris explained, “’Grown-ish’ reflects what we’ll be dealing with in the show—that in-between place where you’re not quite an adult but facing grown world problems for the first time. Where ‘black-ish’ examines what it means to be black, ‘Grown-ish’ is an examination of what it is and what it means to be grown.”
Round up your teens! The show sounds like it will be an eye opener for the young people in your life who think they're so "grown."
“Grown-ish” is set to premiere in 2018 on Freeform (formerly ABC Family). In the meantime, you can catch Yara and her on-screen Johnson family for the 4th season of “black-ish” premiering October 3rd on ABC.
