Get ready for some music industry drama!
Mariah Carey is going from reality TV to scripted television as she has signed on as executive producer of an upcoming drama inspired by her rise to fame in the music industry. STARZ is behind the fictional scripted drama series that will be based on some of Mariah’s real-life experiences as she pursued becoming a bonafide superstar in the music industry.
According to PageSix, the drama is set in 1986 New York City and chronicles the rise of an ambitious bi-racial 16-year-old girl, an aspiring singer-songwriter who survived a difficult childhood to become the biggest selling female music artist of all time.
Nina Coleman will pen the script and serve as the show’s showrunner. Mariah’s longtime friend Brett Ratner will be executive producing. Other producers include Stella Bulochnikov (“Boss”), Teri Weinberg (“Ugly Betty”), and John Cheng (“Horrible Bosses”).
We’re actually here for this. And we’re glad MiMi has kicked reality TV to the curb because “Mariah’s World” was many things.

Solange jetted to Chicago to headline this year’s Pitchfork Festival held at Union Park over the weekend.
Backed by a live band, Solo serenaded concertgoers with her flawless vocals, belting out some of her former hits and cuts from her new album A Seat At The Table to close out the show.
“You’ve all been along for my journey. It ain’t always pretty, acting a fool in public and sh*t,” she told the audience. It sounds like she was referring to her elevator incident between herself, Jay Z and her sister Beyonce two years ago.

“I thank you so much for allowing me to live my truth through this album. There’s a lot of f*cking work to do. I just feel so grateful y’all are allowing me to do the work,” she said.
