It’s Black Music Month where we recognize all of the great musicians who help tell the stories of our lives. Whether we’re happy, sad, or mad, there’s always some music that expresses how you’re feeling in that exact moment.

U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-California) decided to pay tribute to all of the great African-American musicians by curating her very own playlist with several of the most legendary voices in the game.

“Our nation has an indelible soundtrack, songs that have become anthems recognized across the world,” Ms. Harris told the Huffington Post. “Much of that soundtrack is inspired and informed by the vast contributions of African-American artists in jazz, R&B, rap, hip-hop, and beyond.”

The playlist consists of 45-songs, including tunes from Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Biggie, Chance The Rapper, Nina Simone, Prince and tons mores. It’s a nice eclectic mix of old school and new school.

"No matter where you are from or what you look like, music is a bond that can bring us all together,” she said. “To celebrate African-American music is to dance, sing, and even march to the rhythms that have long served as vehicles for honesty, inspiration, struggle, success and joy.”

Nice!

Take a listen to her personalized playlist below:

Meanwhile, freshman Senator Harris, who is also a fabulous attorney, has endured some bogus behavior during recent Senate hearings.  When deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein refused to answer any of her questions during the Jeff Sessions hearing, we were perturbed.

After he refused to answer, Sen. Richard Burr and John McCain essentially shushed her. Even when she tried to question Jeff Sessions, he too wouldn’t answer any of her questions. Of course, talking heads called her aggressive.  Interesting, not one man who was more biting than she was suffered any of the same treatment or criticism.  It's literally her job to examine the person testifying and to demand the answers she feels her constituents deserve.

They’ll do anything they can to try and stop a black woman.

We also weren't here for the dismissive rhetoric and condescending, passive aggressiveness from Comey and the committee leaders.  Sen. Harris remained unbothered in the face of it all though.  And that's why we love her.
