Our new Miss USA, Kára McCullough, may be seemingly conservative with her views, but there is something we do love about her: She has no problem rocking her natural hair.  We scoped out 6 things she said during her recent interview with Refinery29 about going natural that some YBF chicks could likely relate to.

We definitely hit her with the side eye for her Q&A answers about social issues during the Miss USA 2017 pageant.  But Kára's been on a mission to re-invent herself after the fiasco.   She walked back her healthcare privilege comments during a "GMA" interview saying:

"I would like to take this moment to truly just clarify — because I'm a woman, I'm gonna own what I say — I am privileged to have health care, and I do believe that it should be a right. I hope and pray moving forward that health care is a right for all worldwide."

"I just want people to see where I was coming from. Having a job, I have to look at health care like it is a privilege."

What we're not mad at, though, is how she talks about her natural curls that she rocked throughout her journey to pageant queendom.  Here's 6 quotes that folks may relate to that she said during a recent interview.

1.  "When I chose to wear my hair curly, I was afraid."
Girl, we know the feeling. Especially us YBF chicks who are 4 A-C.

2.  "I didn’t know if people were going to accept it...if anyone was going to be receptive to it at all.”
The million dollar question every girl asks herself before going natural.

3.  "I decided to embrace what makes me feel comfortable and what makes me feel the best and brightest on stage, but also embrace what other people can relate to.”
There is always a point in a woman’s life where zero f#@ks are given, and this is it.

4. "That typical, traditional sleek hair with a big tease, not to say it’s gone out the window, but it’s transitioning a lot."
Thankyajesus.

5.  "When I didn’t see anyone in competitions with my hairstyle, I decided I wanted to be the mold."
Yassss! Break down societal norms!

6. "When I chose to wear my hair natural I had a lot of support from many people. Essentially, I decided to embrace what made me feel comfortable and embrace what makes me feel the best and brightest on stage.”

Embrace your black girl magic, Kara!

Can you relate to Kára’s natural-hair-on-the-pageant-circuit journey?
