Russell Westbrook Opens 10 New ‘Russell Reading Rooms’ For The Kiddies + Wyclef Handcuffed After Being Mistaken For Robbery Suspect

Good news, and not so good news. Russell Westbrook just opened 10 new reading rooms to help kids find a love for reading. Meanwhile, Wyclef got caught up in some drama with the police over a mistaken identity. See the clips inside…

NBA baller Russell Westbrook is on his philanthropic steez for the kiddies. The OKC Thunder player and his Why Not Foundation opened up TEN new “Russell Reading Rooms” in OKC elementary schools. In the clip below, he surprises a class at Adams Elementary to kick off the special reading room. Russell wants to get kids excited about reading, so this is one way he’s doing so.

The NBA player and his foundation also donated over 1,700 books to fill up the room and he even helped a few top readers pick up a couple of new books. Nice!

Why am I in Handcuffs!!!!!????? This is what I said to the LAPD after they put me in Handcuffs for mistaken identity !!!!!!!

Wyclef Jean had a long, eventful night.

Apparently, he was handcuffed and detained by police after they mistaken him for a robbery suspect. While in handcuffs, Wyclef had someone record the incident and post it to his social media pages. Peep the clips above and below:

 

I was asked by the police to Put my hands up. Then I was told do not move. I was instantly hand cuffed before being asked to identify myself and before being told why. In the process I said my name and told them they have wrong person. They proceeded to ignore me and I was treated like a criminal. I am sure no father wants his sons or daughters to see him in Handcuffs especially if he is innocent. As some one who has law enforcers in my family, I was appalled by the bahavior of the LAPD.

Wyclef said he was pulled over early Tuesday morning after a recording session that resulted in him being detained. Police were reportedly looking for a robbery suspect wearing a red bandana and Wyclef just so happened to be wearing a red bandana. Let’s hope that’s not the only resemblance he had with the suspect.

"LAPD another case of mistaken identity. Black man with red bandana robbed a gas station as I was in the studio working but im in handcuffs?" he tweeted.

The entertainer tweeted and posted on Instagram that the LAPD had arrested him, but it was actually the L.A. County Deputies who mistaken his identity. And the LAPD didn’t waste any time to “clear” their name:

Hmph.

It’s reported the robbery suspect they were actually looking for was eventually apprehended, but his name has not been released.

A spokesperson for Wyclef released a statement calling for L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, LAPD chief Charlie Beck and the LA Sheriff's Department to formally investigate racial profiling.
