In unfortunate news, Tyler Perry’s dad’s house was destroyed by a house fire leaving him homeless. Get those details, plus why Steve Harvey had to hire around-the-clock security inside…

The man Tyler Perry calls dad almost died in a house fire after his Louisiana home went up in flames on Monday night. Emmitt Perry, who isn’t Tyler’s biological father but raised him, said he could have died in the massive blaze had he been asleep.

He told WBRZ, "I heard something popping in the attic. I went upstairs and let the [attic] stairs down. I couldn't smell any smoke. I didn't see anything burning. I then went to call the fire department, and my daughter was coming in the gate. And she said, 'I already called them.'"

Glad they made it out safely.

It took about 50 firefighters to end the blaze, leaving Emmitt homeless. Tyler had the home built for his late mother and after she died, his father still lived in the home. The house is a total loss. We're sure Tyler will make sure he's well taken care of.

Steve Harvey is opening up about the after math of the huge 2015 Miss Universe debacle when he mistakenly named the wrong winner for the beauty pageant.

In an interview with Cigar Aficionado inside the April issue, the “Family Feud” host explained how people were sending death threats and why he had to get around-the-click security.

“I live on a dead-end street — and it got real when things started coming over the gate. Empty boxes with bows and pictures of bombs,” he recalled. "And these with death threats on social media that would pop up from fake IP addresses. I wound up with 24-hour armed security at my house. I have two armed guards there full-time to this day.”

The 60-year-old entertainer said he’s welcomed with open arms in the Philippines, but he wouldn’t dare go to Colombia anytime soon.

“In the Philippines, they love me — but I can’t go to Colombia,” he said. "The next morning, there was this massive crowd, all around my car outside the hotel—all these Colombians giving me hell. My Twitter and Instagram blew up and I got called every name in the book. I got cussed out in Spanish so bad that I know profanity in Spanish now.”

Funny, but not funny.
