There’s a new twist in the Madonna adoption story.

A few weeks ago, Madonna hopped on social media to gush about finally being able to adopt Malawi twins, Esther and Stella. Now, the alleged father of the girls is speaking out and he claims he was never told the adoption was permanent.

In an interview with The Mail, Adam Mwale said he was shocked to learn his four-year-old daughters would be gone forever. He claims he was misled into believing the move to the U.S. would only be temporary. He explained,

“I was told from the start that Esther and Stella were going to a rich woman’s home abroad, that she would give them a good education, then return them to me, to live with me and help all of my family.

‘Now you are telling me the adoption is permanent. That cannot be true – I don’t want it to be true. I am their father and I will always be their father.’

He said he first learned Madonna was interested in the girls last May when she visited the Home of Hope orphanage where the girls were staying. Under the impression that the girls would come to America to receive an education and returned, he spoke with his late wife’s family about the opportunity and decided to let them go.

“The orphanage boss told me it would be a wonderful chance for my little girls, and for their brother and sisters at home. I was told to agree with everything in court. I did not believe I would never see my girls again.”

He claims after his wife died, he asked the hospital for help, but they suggested the orphanage was the best place for them. Court documents say otherwise.

In the judgment, it’s reported he left the twins after his wife died and ran off to marry another woman.

Mr. Mwale said he visited his twin girls often and that they would come home with him during holidays.  He went off to work to be able to provide for their care, he says. If he’s telling the truth, we’re sure he’s hurting.

It’s reported the adoption is set to be made permanent in 12 months, subject to the court’s approval.

Meanwhile, Madonna seems to be really enjoying her new daughters, dressing them up and teaching them new songs:
