New Edition has sparked new interest with a younger generation and took OG fans down memory lane with their 3-part biopic that aired on BET a few weeks ago. And, might we add, it was television GOLD for the network.
Right now, they’re one of the hottest topics in media. They’re EVERYWHERE. So, when New Edition members Mike Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe and Ricky Bell stopped by HOT 97 to promote thier new BBD album Three Stripes, they had some ish to get off their chests.
Mike called out HOT 97 program director/radio host Ebro Darden for not booking BBD to perform on the Summer Jam stage. Mike said he reached out to Ebro over the years and basically Ebro ignored him when it came time to talk about getting BBD on the stage.
Mike came with receipts too. He said every year during set transitions they would play BBD’s “Poison” and the crowd would go wild. So he wanted to know why was their track good enough to play in rotation, but they weren’t good enough to book a slot on the lineup.
The fact Ebro said "But I made sure y'all got tickets tho", we can't even.
