As expected, the Super Bowl ads were just as good as the actual game last night as the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons went head-to-head in Houston.
By now you know, the Patriots came back in a history making game with an ending score of 34-28. The Falcons held the lead the entire game, but the Patriots proved to be the better team. Sighs…
Well, one good thing about the game was the commercials and the ads served up several political themes in response to the new era of power currently in the White House. Controversial? Yes! Powerful? Yep!
Likely the most controversial ad was from 84 Lumber, a Pittsburgh-based building-supply company. But it was what viewers didn’t get to see that made it so controversial. The commercial told the story of a mother and daughter traveling through Mexico on their way to America. What viewers didn’t see in the full six-minute ad is the mother and daughter coming up on a huge wall on the Mexican border that divided America and Mexico using 84 Lumber materials. (You know, the wall Trump is trying to get up). In the end, the mother and daughter find a door that they are able to go through and walk into America.
When 84 Lumber first submitted their ad, FOX rejected it because it was "too political," so they edited out the part of the mother and daughter coming up on the wall, but it's available online.
