Before the SAG Awards on Sunday night, Black Hollywood was all over L.A. hitting up the pre parties. Peep pics of your faves inside…
L.A. was the place to be over the weekend as several pre-awards parties were thrown to honor those in the running for major awards.
The 48th NAACP Image Awards Nominees' Luncheon was held at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood on Saturday. And the nominees came out to celebrate before the awards show on February 11th.
“Claws” star Niecy Nash has been killing the fashion game as of late. We haven’t come across one ensemble she put together we didn’t like. On top of her fashion sense, Niecy’s bod is looking amazing as well. And the tie dyed bodycon she wore for the pre-award brunch fit her curves like a glove. Werk!
Niecy is nominated for the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in “The Soul Man.”
Winter white seems to be a trend in Hollywood right now. And “black•ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross hopped on the trend for the pre-awards show festivities. She’s in the running with Niecy Nash for the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series award.
Tracy’s on-screen daughter Marsai Martin was on the scene as has been nominated in two categories: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance in a Youth/Children's Series or Special. By the way “black•ish” Anthony Anderson will be hosting the NAACP Image Awards show.
And “black•ish” is up for the Outstanding Comedy Series award.
Chloe x Halle, who are signed to Beyonce’s Parkwood Entertainment label, looked amazing on the carpet. The singing sisters have been nominated in the Outstanding New Artist category. These two are certainly well on their way to taking over the music charts with their flawless vocals.
Marsai nabbed a photo-op with the singing duo during the luncheon.
“Insecure” star Yvonne Orji, who is nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series award, was all smiles in a sea green off-the-shoulder dress and gold pumps.
“Lethal Weapon” star Keesha Sharp came through with winter white caped goodness. She’s in the running for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series along with Niecy and Tracee.
At the event she spoke with Variety about Hollywood recognizing more films and television shows that feature miniorites saying,“Some people can get caught in their own world – what they think is good, what kind of scripts they think are good –and if it doesn’t represent them, they don’t pay attention to it. I think what happened this year is that people started to pay attention to everything.”
"The Real" co-host/newlywed Adrienne Bailon popped up on the carpet in an eye catching yellow dress to celebrate black excellence.
At another event...
“black•ish” cutie Yara Shahidi is turning an official red carpet slayer! She never disappoints on a red carpet. The YBF Teen, who’s possibly gearing up for her own spin-off show, worked the carpet at Entertainment Weekly’s pre-SAG Award party held at Chateau Marmont soire in a silk Sophie Theallet ensemble.
Twinsies! Yara is a spitting image of her mother Keri Shahidi.
DOPE actress Kiersey Clemons served up 70s vibes with her retro look. The Neighbors 2 star has a plethora of new films coming down the pipeline, including The Only Living Boy In New York, Flatliners and Little B*tches, just to name a few.
“Orange Is The New Black” star Danielle Brooks was a bonafide stunner in a black caped Jovani jumpsuit. Werk!
Meanwhile, Danielle’s “OITNB” co-star Laverne Cox kept it fierce in a red Jason Boateng gown for the pre-awards fun. By the way, “OITNB” won their third consecutive SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Hidden Figures star Aldis Hodge came out to party before the film copped the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture last night at the SAG Awards.
“This Is Us” star Sterling K. Brown and his wife/co-star Ryan Michelle Bathe rolled up on the scene serving coupledom goals as they walked in holding hands.
Speaking of married couples who work together:
“Empire” stars Grace Gealey (in a Keti Chkhikvadze suit) and Trai Byers are one HOT looking couple. We’re not rushing, but we can’t wait to see their babies!
“Empire” will return to FOX on March 22nd. And if you haven’t heard, the series has been renewed for season 4.
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” stars Kandi Burruss Tucker (wearing a Solace London ruffle dress) and Todd Tucker are another married couple who work together and seem to make it work.
Inside, the YBF kiddies - including Hidden Figures star Saniyya Sidney,“black•ish” stars Miles Brown and Marsai Martin, “New Edition”/”Stranger Things” star Caleb McLaughlin (who copped a SAG Award last night), and “Modern Family” star Rico Rodriguez had loads of fun on the dance floor and snapping selfies:
At another soiree...
Hidden Figures cutie Saniyya Sidney looked adorable on the carpet at Variety's Celebratory Brunch Event For Awards Nominees at Cecconi's in Hollywood.
“Westworld” star and SAG Award nominee Thandie Newton played with prints in a ALTUZARRA blazer and skirt. Are we feeling it?
Uzo Aduba kills her role as Crazy Eyes on “Orange Is The New Black” and she slays a red carpet as well. The SAG Award winner rocked a metallic pleated A.L.C. skirt paired with a black suit. Simple and it tottaly works.
Uzo's "OITNB" co-star Samira Wiley was killed off the last season of the show, but she has been making her rounds at the pre-awards festivities for her work on the show in 2016. By the way, she's engaged to Lauren Morelli!, a writer for the Netflix series.
Hmm...something is off about this look Danielle Brooks is wearing. She's still a FAB chick nonetheless.
“Underground” star and new mom Jurnee Smollett Bell was also rocking the all white everything trend for the party.
