The Trumpet Awards are all about celebrating black folks who are inspirational and doing great things.
TheYBF.com's Atlanta correspondent Jordan Live mixed it up with everybody the other night -- Erica Campbell, BJ the Chicago Kid and more -- on the carpet. And yeah, we made the SAAANGERS sing like KeKe Wyatt and Silk. Get into it above!
New Edition is getting ALL the shine.
The legendary R&B group was recognized for their illustrious singing career right before their BET biopic debuted. They were awarded the Lifetime Achievement award at the 2017 Trumpet Awards.
Ricky Bell, Johnny Gill, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe also got the tribute treatmentwith a performance by Jagged Edge, Silk (below) and The Transitions. The groups served up performances of their classic hits, including, “Candy Girl,” Mr. Telephone Man” and “Cool It Now” that had the audience dancing in the aisles.
Damn time flies. That original album is the ultimate throwback though, still.
The gorgeous Nicole Ari Parker and actor/comedian Deon Cole were tapped to host the night that was all about inspiration.
Mother-daughter duo Trina Braxton and Evelyn Braxton stepped out to salute this year’s honorees.
Black definitely doesn’t crack. Actress Vanessa Bell Calloway looked stunning on the carpet before hitting the stage to present.
R&B singer Keke Wyatt and gospel singer/reality star Tamela Mann (along with little Miss Georgia) were tapped to for the awards ceremony.
Tamela’s husband David Mann wasn’t far behind.
We see you Latavia Roberson! The former Destiny's Child singer struck a pose on the red carpet.
Mary Mary singer Erica Campbell served up floral fab for the festivities.
Singer Kenny Latimore, “Survivor’s Remorse” star Erica Ash and singer-songwriter legend Bill Withers snapped it up together. Show off then Erica in all red.
Kenny was tapped to hit the stage to honor Trumpet Legend Award recipient Peabo Bryson.
Oh?! Atlanta Falcons baller Jacques Smith was all smiles with “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Karlie Redd. Be careful Jacques. Kidding, not kidding.
"Living Single" alum T.C. Carson was in the mix for the night of black excellence.
Comedian Gary Owen made his way to the event to support and present.
Radio personality Ed Lover cleaned up nicely in a blue suit.
Atlanta hairstylist/reality star Derek J showed support.
And Lalah Hathaway was all smiles before hitting the stage for a performance.

New Edition took the stage to thank everyone for the love and support they've shown them over the years after Jagged Edge (below) honored them in song.
And gospel singer/pastor Shirley Caesar rocked the stage with a performance. Guess she's back in everybody's good graces post-Kim Burrellgate.
