Janelle Monae has confirmed Kim Burrell will NOT be appearing on “ELLEN” this week following all of the controversy around her anti-gay sermon. Meanwhile, Tamar Braxton tries to come to her defense. Deets inside…

WONDALAND honcho Janelle Monae has confirmed gospel singer/preacher Kim Burrell will NOT be appearing on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” this week following her anti-gay sermon. Kim was scheduled to appear on the show January 5th, but not anymore.

Ellen posted:

Photogs caught up with the fresh faced  Hidden Figures star as she made her way through LAX yesterday and that’s when she dropped the news that Kim wouldn’t be performing.

“I don’t stand for any hate speech that targets our brothers and sisters in any negative way," as she walked up holding up the peace sign.

Peep the clip below:

Kim was set to perform a song from the Hidden Figures soundtrack alongside Pharrell Williams, but P is going to hold it down without her now. Janelle is set to appear as a guest.

Folks came out in droves on social media bashing the gospel singer for her homophobic sermon. Kim responded to the negative backlash in two separate videos with an apology of sorts. If you missed, catch up HERE.

Pharrell and Janelle condemned the hate speech shortly after Kim's sermon went viral:

I shouldn't even have to post this as you guys should already know where I stand but If you do not pls know I unequivocally repudiate ANY AND ALL hateful comments against the LGBTQ community. In addition, I feel we all belong to the same community, a shared community called humanity. And today and tomorrow and the next day I will continue to stand with other like minded people who condemn any and all statements and actions that would seek to deny the basic humanity of our fellow brothers and sisters. We cannot sit Idly by nor will we speak silently when we are confronted with such violence against members of our community. I am personally beyond exhausted by the ignorance and bigotry living in some people. At times I want to punch and I want to slap a lot of people when I read and hear the shit that comes out their mouths !!! I will rejoice when folks stop thinking they ARE GOD, Jesus' assistant, picking and choosing what "sins" are acceptable in the Bible, and using the Bible as a whip! WE can't afford anymore tearing down of our shared humanity. My advice: If your religion is causing you to spew out words of hate, judge, or look down on others because of who one loves then you need to change it. And fast. If the religion don't make you are more loving or better person, ditch it. But what do I know. My hope is that we ALL go into this new year considering for one moment that we don't have all the answers. My hope is that we become more understanding, less judgmental, more tolerate, and more patient with one another. Including me. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres also confirmed Kim will not be appearing on her show:

There's that.

Meanwhile, Tamar Braxton tried to come to Kim’s defense. Somewhat.  She offered a possible explanation as to why Kim said what she said.

She posted a lengthy message on Instagram encouraging folks to pray for her and to show her love. Read the full message above.

What’s interesting is that Tamar has since deleted this post. She posted and deleted a follow up message asking how many people went to a church that preached the same teachings?  She said while she disagrees with Kim, it is learned behavior and Ellen should still have her on the show still to teach her differently.

Hmmm…
