CRITICS’ CHOICE NOMINATIONS ARE IN: ‘La La Land’ Nabs 12, ‘Moonlight’ Cops 10, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Janelle Monae & More Get Nods

Looks like we won't be seeing another white washed Awards season.  The Critics' Choice Awards nominations for movies have been announced. And our YBF celebs are in the running in several categories. Find out who will be trekking to the ceremony inside…

With awards season right around the corner, the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s Critics’ Choice Awards has released nominations for this year’s movie awards, following the television nominations. It's a great indication for who will be Oscar contenders.

La La Land did a total sweep this year nabbing a whopping 12 nominations. John Legend is an executive producer on the film and he also stars in the film. La La Land is in the running for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and two Best Song nominations among other categories.

Indie film Moonlight was right behind La La Land in nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (Barry Jenkins) and Best Acting Ensemble. Naomie Harris is in the running for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Moonlight, her co-star Mahershala Ali is in the running for Best Supporting Actor and Alex R. Hibbert is up for Best Young Actor/Actress for his role in the drama. Alex will go head-to-head against Madina Nalwanga (Queen of Katwe) in the Best Young Actor/Actress category.

Denzel Washington has been nominated for Best Actor and Best Director for the upcoming drama Fences. His co-star Viola Davis is in the running for Best Supporting actress and the film has been nominated for Best Picture and Best Acting Ensemble.

Janelle Monae has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the upcoming biographical drama Hidden Figures. She's up against Viola and Naomie in the category. The film is also nominated in the Best Acting Ensemble category.

Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Central Intelligence has been nominated in the Best Comedy category and The Rock has been nominated for Best Actor in Comedy for his role in the film. Moana, which also stars The Rock, is up for Best Animated Feature and Best Song.
