It’s that time of year again. Awards season is right around the corner and we’ve got this year’s nominees for the 22nd Annual Critics Choice Awards for television.
The Critics’ Choice Awards will recognize excellence in television and film and, according to its website, the awards have typically been an accurate predictor of who will be nominated for an Academy Award. Before the film nominees are announced, the Critics’ Choice Awards unveiled who will be up for awards in television.
“The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” will be the show to beat this year. After nabbing several EMMY Awards, the limited series is up for six CC's, including the Best Movie Made For Television or Limited Series award.
Cuba Gooding Jr. and Courtney B. Vance will go head-to-head in the Best Actor in a Movie Made For Television or Limited Series. Meanwhile, their co-star Sterling K. Brown is in the running for the Best Supporting Actor In A Movie Made For Television or Limited Series.
HBO’s Confirmation will duke it out against “The People vs. O.J. Simpson” for the Best Movie Made For Television or Limited Series. Kerry Washington has been nominated in the Best Actress In A Movie Made For Television or Limited Series for her role as Anita Hill in Confirmation.
ABC’s “black•ish” has been nominated in the Best Comedy Series category. The show’s stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross copped nominations in the Best Actor In A Comedy Series and the Best Actress In A Comedy Series respectively.
Hollywood vet Regina King picked up a nomination or Best Supporting Actress In A Movie Made For Television or Limited Series for her role in ABC’s “American Crime.” By the way, she already nabbed two EMMYs for her role on the show.
Several other YBF stars, including Forrest Whitaker, Viola Davis, Mahershala Ali, Lisa Bonet and more also landed nods.
