2016 certainly has a new trend when it comes to divorces. It seems men are flexing their legal options to cop spousal support from their former mates more than ever. And have no shame in it.
Candace Parker and her estranged husband Shelden Williams are headed down Splitsville Lane. The WNBA star was delivered divorce papers from her husband, a former NBA & Duke University player, and he’s demanding spousal support! Sound familiar?
According to reports, Shelden revealed he and his wife Candace, who won the WNBA Finals MVP a few weeks ago, have been separated and living apart since August. The two have been married for the last 7-years, tying the knot on November 13, 2008. Yep, he filed for divorce just days before their 8-year anniversary. He cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason they have decided to end their marriage.
The couple share a 7-year-old daughter named Lailaa Nicole Williams and Shelden has asked for joint custody.
Now, about that spousal support.
Shelden is demanding spousal support from Candace even though he reportedly made more than $12 million during his 6 years in the NBA. He also wants her to pay for his legal fees.
According to TMZ, Candace makes in the low 6-figures as a L.A. Sparks player, but said she can make up to $1million overseas. Not only that, she has an endorsement deal with Adidas and it appears he’s trying to get all he can out of her.
Folks in 2016 are something else....
